Maintenance and inspection
1. A monthly inspection or prior to major holidays is mandatory for fire hydrants.
2. Clean debris around the valve rod end, place the plate glove over the rod head, check for a proper fit, turn the valve rod, and apply lubricant.
3. Wipe away rust from the outlet thread with an oil sand cloth, and check if the rubber gasket inside the cap is intact. Open the fire hydrant to inspect the water supply, tighten it after draining the rusty water, and observe for any leakage.
4. Paint chipping on the surface should be repaired promptly.
5. Inspect and clear any obstructions near the fire hydrant.
