Un paralleled thermal insulation performance
The thermal conductivity of polystyrene foam boards is less than or equal to 0.028 W/mK, significantly lower than that of other insulation materials. In engineering, materials with a thermal conductivity of less than 0.25 W/mK are typically considered insulation materials, thus offering high thermal resistance and low linear expansion rates. They are widely used in roof insulation and heat preservation systems, cold storage facilities, and thermal insulation for both interior and exterior walls.
Waterproof Absorbency
As an insulating material, the water absorption rate is an extremely important technical indicator. High water absorption can lead to a decrease in insulating performance. Extruded polystyrene (XPS) boards have a complete closed-cell structure with no gaps on either side of the board, preventing moisture from seeping in due to leaks, condensation, and freezing/thawing cycles. This effectively blocks the entry of water molecules, thus preventing the board from aging and ensuring that the insulating layer maintains its function over time. Eventually, this may necessitate the repair of the insulating structure layer. The closed-cell structure of XPS boards effectively prevents the penetration of water molecules (including water vapor), even if mechanically damaged during installation. The tightly packed honeycomb structure of XPS boards maintains a low water absorption rate. Due to the effective prevention of water molecule penetration and its non-hydrophilic nature, aging is almost impossible, making it nearly as long-lasting as the building itself.

Low thermal conductivity is a necessary condition for all insulation materials. XPS boards are made from polystyrene (PS), which is well-known as an appropriate insulation material. Moreover, the production by extrusion method ensures a tightly closed-cell honeycomb structure, which more effectively prevents heat conduction.
