Recirculating Closed Loop Cleaning

Recirculation cleaning utilizes two existing parallel ash piping lines to form a loop, creating a circulating system with the cleaning pump station. A solution of a certain acidity concentration is added, which circulates and cleans within the ash water pipes. As the acid washing reaches a certain level, acid is continuously replenished. For short-distance single ash water pipelines, if conditions permit, a temporary pipeline can be laid to form a recirculation loop for cleaning. This process must be carried out while the system is shut down, and it is complex and costly.

Preliminary Cleaning

No two gray pipes should form a loop during cleaning; only single gray pipe open circuit cleaning is allowed. The method involves connecting one end of the gray pipe to the cleaning device, continuously preparing a certain concentration of cleaning solution in the blending tank, and injecting it into the gray pipe continuously or intermittently. This process requires adding cleaning equipment during shutdown, which increases costs.

Continuous cleaning without shutdown

This process involves continuously injecting a certain amount of acidic solution while the ash pipeline is operating normally without interruption. Simultaneously, a specific quantity of ash pipeline cleaning inhibitor and pipeline cleaning descaler is added for operation. The cleaning is conducted with an open circuit. The primary function of the cleaning aids is to facilitate the reaction between the acidic solution and the ash deposits at a certain concentration and flow rate, while also enhancing their solubility in water, reducing air blockage, and ensuring the quality of ash pipeline cleaning.

The procedure is as follows: Before cleaning, first estimate the required acid amount based on the total scale in the pipeline. Then, calculate the acid addition rate and the flow rate of the descaling agent and pipeline cleaning agent by considering the sludge water flow and acidity. During the cleaning process, take a sample at the front end of the sludge pipe every 30 minutes to test the acidity, and strictly control the acidity by adjusting the acid flow rate. In the later stage of cleaning, take a sample at the end of the sludge pipe every 15 minutes to test the pH value. When the pH value reaches a certain level and remains unchanged for 30 minutes, the cleaning process can be deemed complete.

Pipe Scale

(1) Classified by chemical composition, it can be divided into carbonate scale, sulfate scale, silicate scale, and mixed scale, etc. The main components of carbonate scale are calcium carbonate and magnesium carbonate; the main components of sulfate scale and silicate scale are calcium sulfate and silicate compounds, respectively.

(2) Categorized by physical properties, there are two types: scale that is firmly adhered to the pot shell and tube walls, and sediment that is loosely textured and easily detached.
Lime scale primarily forms due to the salts of calcium and magnesium in the boiler feed water, which precipitate and adhere to the metal surface upon heating. Lime scale has a very low thermal conductivity, about 2 to 5 times that of ordinary steel. When lime scale accumulates on the boiler's heating surface, it severely impairs heat transfer efficiency and affects the boiler's performance; it can also easily damage metal materials due to localized overheating, potentially leading to pipe explosion accidents; it accelerates galvanic corrosion, causing pipeline lime scale corrosion, and speeds up the deterioration of the heating surface. Once lime scale forms, it should be promptly removed using mechanical or chemical methods.
