Chemical Cleaning Scale Removal Process

Recirculating closed-loop cleaning

Recirculating cleaning utilizes two existing parallel ash removal pipelines to form a loop, creating a recirculation system with the cleaning pump station. A certain concentration of acidic solution is added, which circulates through the ash water pipeline for cleaning. As the acid washing reaches a certain level, the acidic solution is continuously replenished. For short-distance single ash water pipelines, if conditions permit, a temporary pipeline can be laid to form a recirculation loop for cleaning. This process must be carried out while the system is shut down, and it is complex and costly.

Open-channel cleaning

No two grey pipes can form a loop during cleaning; only single-pipe open circuit cleaning is allowed. The method involves connecting one end of the grey pipe to the cleaning unit, continuously preparing a certain concentration of cleaning solution in the blending tank, and injecting it into the grey pipe continuously or intermittently. This process requires adding cleaning equipment while the system is offline, which increases costs.

Non-stop cleaning

The process involves continuously injecting a certain amount of acidic solution while the ash pipe is operating normally and not stopped, simultaneously adding a specific quantity of ash pipe running cleaning inhibitor and pipeline cleaning descaler for open circuit cleaning. The primary function of the cleaning aid is to promote the reaction between the acidic solution and the ash scale at a certain concentration and flow rate, while also increasing its solubility in water, reducing the occurrence of air blockage, and ensuring the quality of ash pipe cleaning.

Operation method: Before cleaning, first estimate the required acid amount based on the total scale in the pipeline. Then, calculate the acid addition rate and the flow rate for the ash slurry pipeline operation by considering the flow rate of the grey water and acidity. During the cleaning process, collect samples at the front of the ash pipe every 30 minutes to test the acidity, and strictly control the acidity by adjusting the flow rate of the acid addition. In the later stage of cleaning, collect samples at the end of the ash pipe every 15 minutes to test the pH value. When the pH value reaches a certain level and remains unchanged for 30 minutes, the cleaning process can be considered complete.

2. High-pressure water jet cleaning machinery
High-pressure water jet cleaning offers advantages such as high efficiency, low cost, non-damaging to workpieces, environmental friendliness, ease of operation, and safety.
Advantages of high-pressure water technology include:

(1) High-quality Cleaning: During the high-pressure water jet cleaning of pipelines and internal surfaces of heat exchangers, all scaling and blockages inside the pipes are thoroughly removed, revealing the metal surface. The high-pressure water jet, with its immense energy and supersonic movement, can completely break down hard scaling and blockages, but it does not damage the metal.

Since the pressure of high-pressure water is less than the pressure resistance grade of metal, high-pressure cleaning will not damage the base material being cleaned.

(2) Fast Cleaning Speed: Due to the combined effects of jet washing, splitting, shearing, and grinding, scale can be quickly broken and removed, making the cleaning process several to ten times faster than traditional chemical methods, sandblasting, simple mechanical, and manual methods.

Pipe Scale

(1) Classified by chemical composition, they can be categorized into carbonate scale, sulfate scale, silicate scale, and mixed scale, etc. The main components of carbonate scale are calcium carbonate and magnesium carbonate; the main components of sulfate scale and silicate scale are calcium sulfate and silicate compounds, respectively.

(2) Categorized by physical properties, there are two types: a sturdy scale that firmly adheres to the pot shell and tube walls, and a loose sediment that is easily detached.
Lime scale primarily forms due to the salts of calcium, magnesium, and others in the boiler feed water that precipitate and adhere to the metal surface upon heating. The thermal conductivity of lime scale is very low, around 2 to 5 times that of ordinary steel. Lime scale on the boiler's heating surface greatly deteriorates heat transfer efficiency and affects the boiler's performance; it can easily cause metal materials to burn out due to localized overheating, even leading to pipe explosion accidents; it accelerates galvanic corrosion, causing pipeline lime scale corrosion, and speeding up the damage to the heating surface. Lime scale should be removed promptly using mechanical or chemical methods.
