Chemical cleaning scale removal process:

Recirculating Closed Loop Cleaning

Recirculating cleaning utilizes two original parallel ash removal pipelines to form a loop, creating a circulation system with the cleaning pump station. A certain concentration of acidic solution is added, which circulates through the ash water pipeline for cleaning. As the acid washing reaches a certain level, the acidic solution is continuously replenished. For short-distance single ash water pipelines, if conditions permit, a temporary pipeline can be laid to form a recirculation loop for cleaning. This process must be carried out while the system is shut down, and it is complex and costly.

Open road cleaning

No two grey pipes can form a loop during cleaning; only single grey pipe open-loop cleaning is allowed. The method involves connecting one end of the grey pipe to the cleaning device, continuously preparing a certain concentration of cleaning solution in the solution tank, and then injecting it into the grey pipe continuously or intermittently. This process requires the addition of cleaning equipment during shutdown, which is costly.

Continuous cleaning without shutdown

The process involves continuously injecting a certain amount of acidic solution while the ash pipe is operating normally without interruption, concurrently introducing a specific quantity of ash-pipe running cleaning inhibitor and pipeline descaling agent. This is an open-loop cleaning process. The primary function of the cleaning aids is to promote the reaction between the acidic solution and the ash deposits at a certain concentration and flow rate, while also enhancing their solubility in water, reducing airlock formation, and ensuring the quality of ash-pipe cleaning.

The procedure is: Before cleaning, first estimate the required acid amount based on the total scale in the pipeline. Then, calculate the acid addition rate and the flow rate of the sludge pipe operation by considering the sludge flow rate and acidity. During cleaning, take a sample at the front end of the sludge pipe every 30 minutes to test the acidity and strictly control it by adjusting the acid flow rate. In the later stage of cleaning, take a sample at the end of the sludge pipe every 15 minutes to test the pH value. When the pH value reaches a certain level and remains unchanged for 30 minutes, the cleaning can be considered complete.

2. High-pressure water jet cleaning equipment
High-pressure water jet cleaning offers advantages such as high efficiency, low cost, non-damaging to workpieces, environmental friendliness, ease of operation, and safety.
Advantages of high-pressure water technology include:

(1) Excellent Cleaning Quality - The high-pressure water jet cleaning of pipe and heat exchanger bores can completely remove scale and blockages inside, revealing the metal substrate. With its immense energy and supersonic speed, the high-pressure water jet is fully capable of destroying hard scale and blockages, yet it has no damaging effect on metal.

Since the pressure of the high-pressure water is less than the pressure resistance grade of metal, high-pressure cleaning will not damage the base being cleaned.

(2) Fast Cleaning Speed: Due to the combined effects of jet washing, wedge splitting, shearing, and grinding, scale can be quickly broken and removed, making the cleaning process several to ten times faster than traditional chemical methods, sandblasting, simple mechanical, and manual methods.

Additionally, parts cleaned with high-pressure water jetting do not require a second cleaning process; however, after chemical cleaning, the surface must be washed off with clear water.

(3) No Environmental Pollution: Since high-pressure water jet cleaning uses pure water as the medium, it does not generate a large amount of dust like sandblasting, shot blasting, or simple mechanical cleaning, which can pollute the atmosphere and harm health. It also does not produce a significant amount of waste liquid like some chemical cleaning methods, which can contaminate rivers, soil, and water quality. The water jet cleaning using pure water is odorless, tasteless, and non-toxic. After atomization, it can also reduce the dust concentration in the work area, lowering atmospheric dust levels from 80mg/m³ with other methods to below the national safety standards, thus causing no pollution.


3. Pipe Scale

(1) Classified by chemical composition, they include carbonate scale, sulfate scale, silicate scale, and mixed scale. The main components of carbonate scale are calcium carbonate and magnesium carbonate; the main components of sulfate scale and silicate scale are calcium sulfate and silicate compounds, respectively.

(2) Categorized by physical properties, there are two types: hard scale that firmly adheres to the pot shell and tube walls, and loose sediment that is easy to detach.
Lime scale primarily forms due to the salts of calcium and magnesium in the boiler feed water, which precipitate and adhere to the metal surface upon heating. Lime scale has a very low thermal conductivity, approximately 2 to 5 times that of ordinary steel. The formation of lime scale on the boiler's heat transfer surface greatly deteriorates the heat transfer efficiency, affecting the boiler's performance; it can easily lead to the metal being damaged by local overheating, even causing tube burst accidents; it accelerates galvanic corrosion, causing pipeline lime scale corrosion, and speeding up the deterioration of the heat transfer surface. Once lime scale forms, it should be promptly removed using mechanical or chemical methods.
