Chemical Cleaning Scale Removal Process
Recirculating Closed Circuit Cleaning
Recirculation cleaning utilizes two original parallel ash removal pipelines to form a loop, creating a circulating system with the cleaning pump station. It introduces a solution of a certain acidity concentration, which circulates through the ash water pipeline for cleaning. As the acid washing reaches a certain level, the solution is continuously replenished with more acid. For short-distance single ash water pipelines, if conditions permit, a temporary pipeline can be laid to create a recirculating loop for cleaning. This process must be carried out during shutdown and is complex and costly.
Open Channel Cleaning
No two gray pipes can form a loop during cleaning; only a single gray pipe can be used for open-loop cleaning. The method involves connecting one end of the gray pipe to the cleaning unit, continuously preparing a certain concentration of cleaning solution in the mixing tank, and then continuously or intermittently injecting it into the gray pipe. This process requires adding cleaning equipment during shutdown, which increases costs.
Continuous cleaning without shutdown
This process involves continuously injecting a certain amount of acidic solution while simultaneously introducing a specific quantity of ash conveying tube cleaning inhibitor and pipeline descaling agent. This is an open-loop cleaning method. The main function of the cleaning aids is to facilitate the reaction between the acidic solution and ash deposits at a certain concentration and flow rate, while also enhancing its solubility in water and reducing the occurrence of air blockages, ensuring the quality of ash pipe cleaning.
The procedure is as follows: Before cleaning, first estimate the required acid amount based on the total scale in the pipeline. Then, calculate the acid addition rate and the flow rate of the descaling agent and pipeline cleaning agent based on the sludge water flow rate and acidity. During cleaning, take a sample at the front end of the sludge pipe every 30 minutes to test the acidity and strictly control it by adjusting the acid flow rate. In the later stage of cleaning, take a sample at the end of the sludge pipe every 15 minutes to test the pH value. When the pH value reaches a certain level and remains unchanged for 30 minutes, the cleaning can be considered complete.
2. High-pressure water cleaning equipment for mechanical cleaning:
High-pressure water jet cleaning offers advantages such as high efficiency, low cost, non-damaging to workpieces, environmental friendliness, ease of operation, and safety.
Advantages of high-pressure water technology include:
(1) Excellent Cleaning Quality: High-pressure water jet cleaning of pipe and heat exchanger bores can completely remove scale and blockages inside, revealing the metal surface. The high-pressure water jet, with its immense energy and supersonic speed, can effectively break down hard scale and blockages without causing any damage to the metal.
The high-pressure water pressure is less than the compressive strength grade of the metal, so high-pressure cleaning will not damage the surface being cleaned.
(2) Fast Cleaning Speed: Due to the combined action of water jet washing, splitting, shearing, and grinding, scaling can be quickly broken and removed, several to ten times faster than traditional chemical methods, sandblasting, ball-blasting, simple mechanical, and manual cleaning methods.
Components cleaned with high-pressure water jetting do not require secondary cleaning; however, after chemical cleaning, the surface must be rinsed with clean water.
(3) No Environmental Pollution - Since high-pressure water jet cleaning uses pure water as the medium, it does not generate large amounts of dust like sandblasting or simple mechanical cleaning, which can pollute the atmosphere and harm health. It also does not produce large volumes of waste liquid like some chemical cleaning methods, which can contaminate rivers, soil, and water quality. The water jet cleaning using pure water is odorless, tasteless, and non-toxic. After atomizing the jet, it can also reduce the dust concentration in the work area, lowering atmospheric dust from 80mg/m³ with other methods to below the national safety standards. Therefore, it does not cause any pollution.

Pipe Scale
(1) Classified by chemical composition, it can be divided into carbonate scale, sulfate scale, silicate scale, and mixed scale, etc. The main components of carbonate scale are calcium carbonate and magnesium carbonate; the main components of sulfate scale and silicate scale are calcium sulfate and silicate compounds, respectively.
(2) Classified by physical properties, there are two types: scale that is firmly adhered to the pot shell and tube walls, and sediment that is loosely textured and easily detached.
Lime scale primarily forms due to the salts like calcium and magnesium in the boiler feed water precipitating and adhering to the metal surface upon heating. Lime scale has a very low thermal conductivity, approximately 2 to 5 times less than that of ordinary steel. When lime scale accumulates on the boiler's heat transfer surface, it significantly worsens the heat transfer efficiency and affects the boiler's performance; it can easily cause metal materials to burn due to localized overheating, potentially leading to pipe explosion accidents; it also accelerates galvanic corrosion, causing pipeline lime scale corrosion and speeding up the damage to the heat transfer surface. Once lime scale forms, it should be promptly removed using either mechanical or chemical methods.
