Chemical cleaning descaling process:

Recirculating Closed Circuit Cleaning

Recirculating cleaning utilizes two original parallel ash pipelines to form a loop, creating a circulation system with the cleaning pump station. A certain concentration of acidic solution is added, which circulates through the ash water pipes for cleaning. As the acid washing reaches a certain level, the solution is continuously replenished with more acid. For short-distance single ash water pipelines, if conditions permit, a temporary pipeline can be laid to form a recirculation loop for cleaning. This process must be carried out during shutdown, and it is complex and costly.

Open Path Cleaning

No two gray pipes can form a loop during cleaning; only a single gray pipe can be used for open-circuit cleaning. The method involves connecting one end of the gray pipe to the cleaning device, continuously preparing a certain concentration of cleaning solution in the liquid tank, and injecting it into the gray pipe continuously or intermittently. This process requires adding cleaning equipment during shutdown, resulting in higher costs.

Continuous cleaning without shutdown

The process involves continuously injecting a certain amount of acidic solution while the ash pipe is operating normally without interruption, simultaneously adding a specific quantity of ash-pipe running cleaning inhibitor and pipeline cleaning descaler for open-circuit cleaning. The main function of the cleaning aids is to promote the reaction between the acidic solution and ash deposits at a certain concentration and flow rate, while also enhancing its solubility in water, reducing the formation of air blockages, and ensuring the quality of ash pipe cleaning.

The procedure is as follows: Before cleaning, first estimate the required acid amount based on the total scale in the pipeline. Then, calculate the acid addition rate and the flow rate of the descaling agent and pipeline cleaning agent by considering the sludge water flow rate and acidity. During cleaning, take a sample at the front end of the sludge pipe every 30 minutes to test the acidity and strictly control it by adjusting the acid flow rate. In the later stage of cleaning, take a sample at the end of the sludge pipe every 15 minutes to test the pH value. When the pH value reaches a certain level and remains unchanged for 30 minutes, the cleaning can be deemed complete.

2. High-pressure water jet cleaning equipment
High-pressure water jet cleaning offers advantages such as high efficiency, low cost, non-damaging to workpieces, environmental friendliness, ease of operation, and safety.
Advantages of high-pressure water technology include:

(1) Excellent Cleaning Quality: High-pressure water jet cleaning of pipeline and heat exchanger bores can thoroughly remove scale and obstructions from inside the pipes, revealing the metal surface. With immense energy and ultra-sonic movement, the high-pressure water jet is fully capable of destroying tough scale and obstructions without damaging the metal.

High-pressure water cleaning will not damage the substrate being cleaned, as the pressure is less than the compressive strength grade of the metal.

(2) Fast Cleaning Speed: Due to the combined effects of water jet washing, wedge splitting, shearing, and grinding, scale can be quickly broken and removed, making the cleaning process several to ten times faster than traditional chemical methods, sandblasting, simple mechanical, and manual methods.

Components cleaned with high-pressure water jetting do not require secondary cleaning; however, those chemically cleaned need to be rinsed with clean water to remove the surface.

(3) No Environmental Pollution: Since high-pressure water jet cleaning uses pure water as the medium, it does not generate large amounts of dust like sandblasting, shot blasting, or simple mechanical cleaning, which can pollute the atmosphere and harm health. It also does not produce large volumes of waste liquid like some chemical cleaning methods, which can contaminate rivers, soil, and water quality. The water jet cleaning using pure water is odorless, tasteless, and non-toxic. After atomization, it can also reduce the dust concentration in the work area, lowering atmospheric dust from 80mg/m³ with other methods to below the national safety standards, thus causing no pollution.


3. Pipe Scale

(1) Classified by chemical composition, it can be divided into carbonate scale, sulfate scale, silicate scale, and mixed scale, etc. The main components of carbonate scale are calcium carbonate and magnesium carbonate; the main components of sulfate scale and silicate scale are calcium sulfate and silicate compounds, respectively.

(2) Categorically classified by physical properties, there are two types: water scale that is firmly adhered to the pot shell and tube walls, and sediment that is loosely textured and easily detachable.
Lime scale primarily forms due to the salts of calcium and magnesium in the boiler feed water, which precipitate and adhere to the metal surface upon heating. Lime scale has a very low thermal conductivity, around 2 to 5 times that of ordinary steel. When lime scale accumulates on the boiler's heating surface, it significantly worsens heat transfer efficiency and affects the boiler's performance; it can also easily cause metal materials to burn due to localized overheating, potentially leading to pipe explosion accidents; it accelerates galvanic corrosion, causing pipeline lime scale corrosion, and speeding up the damage to the heating surface. Once lime scale forms, it should be promptly removed using mechanical or chemical methods.
