Chemical Cleaning Scale Removal Process
Recirculating Closed Loop Cleaning
Recirculating cleaning utilizes two existing parallel deslagging pipelines to form a loop with the cleaning pump station, introducing a certain concentration of acidic solution. This solution circulates through the sludge water pipes for cleaning, and acid is continuously replenished as the acid washing reaches a certain level. For short-distance single sludge water pipelines, if conditions permit, a temporary pipeline can be laid to form a recirculating loop for cleaning. This process must be carried out during shutdown and is complex with higher costs.
Open-channel cleaning
No two gray pipes can form a loop during cleaning; only single-pipe open-loop cleaning is allowed. The method involves connecting one end of the gray pipe to the cleaning device, continuously preparing a certain concentration of cleaning solution in the blending tank, and then continuously or intermittently injecting it into the gray pipe. This process requires adding cleaning equipment during shutdown, which increases costs.
Continuous cleaning without shutdown
The process involves continuously injecting a specific amount of acidic solution while simultaneously adding a certain quantity of ash-pipe cleaning inhibitor and pipeline cleaning descaler to the ash-pipe. This is an open-circuit cleaning method. The primary role of the cleaning additives is to facilitate the reaction between the acidic solution and the ash deposits at a certain concentration and flow rate, while also enhancing their solubility in water and reducing the occurrence of air blockages, ensuring the quality of ash-pipe cleaning.
Operation procedure: Before cleaning, estimate the required acid quantity based on the total scale in the pipeline. Then, calculate the acid addition rate and the flow rate of the ash-carrying pipeline's corrosion inhibitor and pipeline cleaning stripper based on the gray water flow and acidity. During cleaning, collect samples at the front end of the ash pipeline every 30 minutes to test acidity, and strictly control the acidity by adjusting the flow rate of acid addition. In the later stage of cleaning, test the pH value at the end of the ash pipeline every 15 minutes. When the pH value reaches a certain level and remains unchanged for 30 minutes, the cleaning can be deemed complete.
2. High-pressure water cleaning machinery
High-pressure water jet cleaning offers high efficiency, low costs, non-damaging to workpieces, environmental-friendly, easy operation, and safety advantages.
High-pressure water technology offers the following advantages.
(1) Excellent Cleaning Quality - The high-pressure water jet cleaning of pipeline and heat exchanger bores effectively removes all scale and blockages inside, revealing the metal substrate. With its immense energy and supersonic speed, the high-pressure water jet is fully capable of breaking down hard scale and blockages, yet it has no destructive effect on metal.
Since the pressure of high-pressure water is less than the compressive strength grade of metal, high-pressure cleaning will not damage the base material being cleaned.
(2) Rapid Cleaning Speed: Due to the combined abrasive actions of water jetting, wedging, shearing, and grinding, scale can be quickly shattered and removed, which is several to tens of times faster than traditional chemical methods, sandblasting and shot peening, simple mechanical, and manual cleaning methods.
Additionally, parts cleaned with high-pressure water jetting do not require secondary cleaning; however, after chemical cleaning, the surface chemical must be rinsed off with clear water.
(3) No Environmental Pollution - Since high-pressure water jet cleaning uses pure water as the medium, it does not generate a large amount of dust like sandblasting, grit-blasting, or simple mechanical cleaning, which can pollute the atmosphere and harm health. It also does not produce a large volume of waste liquid like some chemical cleaning methods, which can contaminate rivers, soil, and water quality. The water jet cleaning with pure water as the medium is odorless, tasteless, and non-toxic. After atomization, it can also reduce the dust concentration in the work area, lowering atmospheric dust from 80mg/m³ with other methods to below the national safety standards. Therefore, it does not cause any pollution.

Pipe Scale
(1) Classified by chemical composition, they include carbonate scale, sulfate scale, silicate scale, and mixed scale, etc. The main components of carbonate scale are calcium carbonate and magnesium carbonate; the main components of sulfate scale and silicate scale are calcium sulfate and silicate compounds, respectively.
(2) Categorically divided by physical properties, there are two types: scale that is firmly adhered to the pot shell and tube walls, and sediment that is loosely textured and easily detached.
Lime scale primarily forms due to the salts like calcium and magnesium in the boiler feed water, which precipitate and adhere to the metal surface upon heating. Lime scale has a very low thermal conductivity, approximately 2 to 5 times that of ordinary steel. When lime scale accumulates on the boiler's heating surface, it significantly worsens the heat transfer efficiency and affects the boiler's performance; it can easily cause metal materials to burn due to localized overheating, potentially leading to pipe explosion accidents; it also accelerates galvanic corrosion, causing pipeline lime scale corrosion and speeding up the damage to the heating surface. Once lime scale forms, it should be promptly removed using mechanical or chemical methods.
