Chemical Cleaning Scale Removal Process
Recirculating Closed Circuit Cleaning
Recirculation cleaning utilizes two original parallel deslagging pipelines to form a loop, creating a recirculation system with the cleaning pump station. A solution of a certain concentration is added, and it circulates through the sludge water pipeline for cleaning. Additionally, as the acid washing process reaches a certain level, acid is continuously replenished. For short-distance single sludge water pipelines, if conditions permit, a temporary pipeline can be laid to form a recirculation loop for cleaning. This process must be carried out during shutdown and is complex and costly.
Pilot cleaning
No two gray pipes should form a loop during cleaning; only a single gray pipe should be used for open circuit cleaning. The method involves connecting one end of the gray pipe to the cleaning unit, continuously preparing a certain concentration of cleaning solution in the dosing tank, and then continuously or intermittently injecting it into the gray pipe. This process requires additional cleaning equipment during shutdown, which increases costs.
Continuous cleaning without shutdown
The process involves continuously injecting a certain amount of acidic solution while the ash pipe is operating normally without interruption, simultaneously adding a specific quantity of ash-pipe running cleaning inhibitor and pipeline descaling agent. This is an open-loop cleaning process. The primary function of the cleaning aids is to promote the reaction between the acidic solution and the ash scale at a certain concentration and flow rate, while also increasing its solubility in water, reducing the occurrence of air blockages, and ensuring the quality of ash pipe cleaning.
Operation method: Prior to cleaning, estimate the required acid quantity based on the total scale in the pipeline, then calculate the acid addition rate and sludge flow rate according to the gray water flow and acidity. During cleaning, collect a sample at the front end of the sludge pipe every 30 minutes to test the acidity, and strictly control it by adjusting the acid flow rate. In the later stage of cleaning, test the pH value at the end of the sludge pipe every 15 minutes. When the pH value reaches a certain level and remains unchanged for 30 minutes, the cleaning can be considered complete.
2. High-pressure water jet cleaning equipment
High-pressure water jet cleaning offers advantages such as high efficiency, low cost, non-damaging to workpieces, environmental friendliness, ease of operation, and safety.
The high-pressure water technology boasts the following advantages.
(1) Excellent Cleaning Quality: High-pressure water jet cleaning of pipe and heat exchanger bores effectively removes all scale and blockages, revealing the metal substrate. The high-pressure water jet, with its immense energy and supersonic speed, can completely destroy hard scale and blockages without causing any damage to the metal.
Since the pressure of high-pressure water is less than the compressive strength grade of metal, high-pressure cleaning will not damage the base material being cleaned.
(2) Fast Cleaning Speed - Due to the combined effects of water jet washing, wedge splitting, shearing, and grinding, scaling can be quickly broken and removed, making the cleaning process several to ten times faster than traditional chemical methods, sandblasting and shot peening, simple mechanical, and manual methods.
Additionally, parts cleaned with high-pressure water jetting do not require secondary cleaning; however, after chemical cleaning, the surface chemical must be rinsed off with clean water.
(3) No Environmental Pollution: Since high-pressure water jet cleaning uses pure water as the medium, it does not generate a large amount of dust like sandblasting, grit-blasting, or simple mechanical cleaning, which can pollute the atmosphere and harm health. It also does not produce a large volume of waste liquid like some chemical cleaning methods, which can contaminate rivers, soil, and water quality. The water jet cleaning using pure water is odorless, tasteless, and non-toxic. After atomizing the spray, it can also reduce the dust concentration in the work area, lowering atmospheric dust from 80mg/m³ using other methods to below the national safety standards, thus causing no pollution.

Pipe Scale
(1) Classified by chemical composition, they include carbonate scale, sulfate scale, silicate scale, and mixed scale. The main components of carbonate scale are calcium carbonate and magnesium carbonate; the main components of sulfate scale and silicate scale are calcium sulfate and silicate compounds, respectively.
(2) Categorized by physical properties, there are two types: a hard scale that firmly adheres to the pot shell and pipe walls, and a loose sediment that is easy to detach.
Lime scale primarily forms due to the salts like calcium and magnesium in the boiler feed water, which precipitate and adhere to the metal surface upon heating. Lime scale has a very low thermal conductivity, approximately 2 to 5 times that of ordinary steel. When lime scale accumulates on the boiler's heating surface, it significantly worsens heat transfer efficiency and affects the boiler's performance; it can also easily damage metal materials due to localized overheating, potentially leading to pipe explosion accidents; it accelerates galvanic corrosion, causing pipeline lime scale corrosion, and speeding up the deterioration of the heating surface. Once lime scale forms, it should be promptly removed using mechanical or chemical methods.
