HEDP is an organic phosphorus acid scale and corrosion inhibitor that can form stable complexes with various metal ions such as iron, copper, and zinc, dissolving oxides on metal surfaces. It remains effective in inhibiting corrosion and scaling at temperatures up to 250°C, remains stable at high pH levels, is resistant to hydrolysis, and is not easily decomposed under normal light and heat conditions. It has better acid and alkali resistance and chlorine oxidation resistance than other organic phosphorus acids. HEDP can form hexagonal ring chelates with metal ions in water, particularly calcium ions, providing excellent scale inhibition and distinct solubility limits. When used in combination with other water treatment agents, it exhibits ideal synergistic effects. HEDP solid is a high-purity product suitable for extremely cold regions during winter; it is particularly suitable as a cleaner and additive for daily chemical products in the electronics industry. It is the main material for cyanide-free electroplating, forming a strong bond with copper layers directly plated onto steel. The plated layer is smooth and has a good color. The general dosage is 60% concentration, ranging from 100 to 120 ml/L. The amount of liu acid copper used is 15 to 20 g/L. Additionally, immersing the workpiece in a 1% to 2% solution of this product before electroplating can activate the workpiece, enhancing the electroplating effect. This product is a new type of chlorine-free electroplating complexing agent, used as the main agent for water quality stabilization in recirculating cooling water systems, providing corrosion and scale inhibition. It is one of the organic polyphosphoric acid water treatment agents, with other domestic products including ATMP and EDTMP, among others. Organic polyphosphoric acids are water treatment agents developed late in the 1960s and confirmed in the early 1970s, significantly advancing water treatment technology. They have good chemical stability, are resistant to hydrolysis, can withstand high temperatures, require small dosages, and have both corrosion and scale inhibition properties. They are cathodic corrosion inhibitors and non-chemical equivalent scale inhibitors. When used in combination with other water treatment agents, they exhibit ideal synergistic effects. They have excellent chelating power for many metal ions such as calcium, magnesium, copper, and zinc, and even have good deactivating effects on inorganic salts like calcium, magnesium, and MgSiO3, making them widely used in water treatment technologies.
