Polymethyl methacrylate (POM), also known as acetal resin, polyoxymethylene, and polyacetal, is a thermoplastic crystalline polymer, often referred to as "super steel" or "steel-like." It exhibits good solvent resistance, capable of withstanding hydrocarbons, alcohols, aldehydes, ethers, gasoline, lubricants, and weak alkalis, while maintaining considerable chemical stability at high temperatures.
