Fishwort is a submerged, perennial aquatic plant. Also known as fine grass, soft grass, and fish grass. It has no roots, the entire plant is dark green, with slender and flexible stems that branch out. Some varieties overwinter by sinking old stems. Our floating island plant base supplies a variety of submerged plants, including fishwort, dwarf pondweed, water lettuce, and bulrush. We offer large quantities of fishwort seedlings and provide planting techniques. The goldfish plant, despite its name containing the character "藻" (algae), is not an algal plant. It is merely a type of perennial aquatic herb, essentially a form of aquatic grass. The goldfish plant boasts characteristics such as heat tolerance, preference by crabs, and strong regenerative abilities. It is a favored aquatic grass for river crabs and can also be used as feed for pigs, fish, and poultry. Seeds have a hard shell, with a long dormant period, which is broken by low winter temperatures. Early spring seeds germinate in mud, growing upwards to the water surface. During the growing season, broken plants can develop into new ones at any time. The plant is rootless, fully submerged in water, so its growth is closely related to light. If the water is too turbid and less light penetrates, the plant does not grow well. The plant is nitrogen-loving, and grows better with high inorganic nitrogen content in the water.
