The central shaft is a critical component in the entire mill, and due to its unique shape, it also features an R-zone. After precision processing, the hollow shaft must not have any obvious casting defects such as shrinkage cavities, inclusions, segregation, and cracks. Casting defects are one of the main reasons for the fracture of hollow shafts. 2. The hollow shafts in ball mills are typically large cast steel components, with some weighing up to tens of tons. Internal stress concentration is often present in castings. During the machining of the hollow shaft blanks, aging treatment should be applied to prevent residual stress concentration within the hollow shaft.
