The lathe tool is a widely used single-edged cutting tool, serving as the foundation for studying and analyzing various types of cutting tools. It is used on various lathes to process outer and inner cylindrical surfaces, end faces, threads, grooves, and more. Lathe tools can be categorized by structure into solid lathe tools, welded lathe tools, machine-clamped lathe tools, indexable lathe tools, and shaped lathe tools. Among them, the application of indexable lathe tools is increasingly widespread, and their proportion in lathe tools is gradually rising.
Hardened Alloy Welding Cutting Tool
A Welded Turning Tool refers to a lathe tool that involves creating tool slots on a carbon steel tool shank according to the tool geometric angle requirements, welding a hard alloy blade into the slots using焊料 (welding material), and then sharpening it to the selected geometric parameters before use.
Two: Machining Center Cutting Tool
Machine vise cutting tools are lathe tools that use ordinary blades, which are mechanically clamped onto the tool shank for use. Such tools have the following characteristics:
Due to the enhanced durability of the knives, they last longer, reducing the need for frequent blade changes and thereby increasing production efficiency.
The end of the pressure plate used for clamping the cutting blades can act as a chip breaker.
(3) The blades are not焊接 through high temperature, thus avoiding defects such as decreased hardness and cracking that may arise from welding, which enhances the durability of the cutting tools.
(4) After resharpening, the blade will gradually decrease in size. To restore the blade's working position, an adjustment mechanism for the blade is often provided in the lathe structure to increase the number of resharpenings.
The end of the pressure plate used to clamp the blades can act as a chipbreaker.
Four: Indexable Turning Tool
The indexable lathe tool is a machine tool lathe with indexable inserts. After one cutting edge becomes dull, it can be quickly rotated to the adjacent new cutting edge, allowing the tool to continue working until all cutting edges on the blade are worn out, at which point the blade is discarded and recycled. After replacing a new blade, the lathe tool can resume operation.
Section III: Indexable Turning Tools Indexable turning tools are machine-mounted turning tools that utilize indexable inserts.
1. The advantages of indexable inserts over welded cutting tools include the following:
(1) High tool life is achieved as the blade avoids defects caused by welding and high-temperature sharpening.
High production efficiency due to the elimination of tool sharpening by machine tool operators, significantly reducing auxiliary time such as downtime for tool changes.
(3)有利于 promoting new technologies and processes, exchangeable cutting tools are beneficial for the promotion of the use of new cutting tool materials such as coated and ceramic.
(4) The extended life of the tool shaft significantly reduces consumption and inventory, simplifies tool management, and lowers tooling costs.
2. Features and requirements of the clamping characteristics of the shiftable lathe tool blade:
(1) High positioning accuracy: After blade positioning or replacement, the change in the blade tip position should be within the permissible range of workpiece precision.
(2) The blade clamp should ensure reliable clamping to tightly fit the blade, blade pad, and blade shank contact surfaces, withstand impacts and vibrations, but the clamping force should not be excessive. Stress distribution should be even to prevent crushing the blade.
(3) The chip conveyor is free of obstructions on the blade's front surface, ensuring smooth chip ejection and easy observation.
(4) Easy to switch blade and replace new blades; compact structure for small-sized cutlery. Aim for simplicity in design and ease of manufacturing and use while meeting the above requirements.
Section IV: Features and Requirements of Car Knife Blades
High positioning accuracy: The change in the blade tip position after blade shifting or replacing a new blade should be within the allowable tolerance of the workpiece precision.
(2) Blade Clamping Reliability: Ensure that the blade, blade pad, and blade shank contact surfaces are tightly fitted together, capable of withstanding shocks and vibrations, but the clamping force should not be excessive either. Stress distribution should be even to avoid crushing the blade.
(3)屑片排出顺畅:Blade front is unobstructed, ensuring smooth chip ejection and easy observation.
(4) User-friendly: Easy and quick to change blade edges and replace new blades. The structure of small-sized cutlery should be compact.
While meeting the above requirements, strive for simplicity in structure and ease in manufacturing and use.
