Electroplating fixtures are a crucial factor in ensuring that plated parts meet process requirements. Especially for certain types of plating, such as hard chrome plating, which has high current density, poor dispersion and coverage, and low current efficiency, achieving an even coating and good conductivity requires mastering the design principles of the fixtures, designing ideal fixtures, to guarantee the quality of the electroplating.

Design Principles for Electroplating Fixtures

Consider the shape of the parts, the properties of the plating solution, the production method, the distance and position of the cathode and anode, the number of pieces loaded, and also factors such as the distribution of electrical lines within the tank.

(2) Select appropriate fixture and insulation materials. For instance, use titanium and titanium alloys for aluminum anodizing fixtures; use copper and copper alloys for chromium fixtures. Apply suitable coatings or fixture adhesives to uncoated areas to extend the lifespan of the fixtures.

(3) The design of electroplating racks should focus on their structure to ensure uniform thickness of the plated layer. In some cases, auxiliary anodes or protective cathodes should be placed.

Ensure adequate conductive cross-sectional area to guarantee good contact and conductivity between the plated part and the hanging fixture.

(5) Ensure ease of handling parts, secure hanging, and easy removal of the plating solution.
