Construction hoist usage is on the rise. What should we pay attention to during use to prevent accidents? Today, we're sharing some tips.

Fall Protection Device

The anti-fall safety device is a crucial component of construction hoists, relying on it to prevent accidents such as the fall of the cage, ensuring the safety of passengers. Therefore, the factory testing of anti-fall safety devices is very stringent. Before shipment, they are subject to torque measurements, critical speed tests, and spring compression measurements by authorized inspection units. Each device comes with a test report. After assembly on the construction hoist, a drop test under the rated load is conducted. Hoists in use on construction sites must undergo a drop test every three months. For anti-fall safety devices that have been in use for two years (from the factory date on the device), they must also be sent to an authorized inspection unit for testing, with an annual check thereafter. To date, few have been sent for testing, and some sites even fail to conduct the required drop test every three months, believing their anti-fall safety devices are fine. However, once an accident occurs, it's too late. Why not adhere to regular testing and inspections? Users mistakenly believe that if it's not broken, it's good. In reality, the quality of anti-fall safety devices can only be determined through testing and inspections. It is impossible to ascertain their condition during routine operations. For those anti-fall safety devices that have exceeded their service life, it is recommended to have them inspected and tested early and regularly, as this can prevent catastrophic accidents from occurring.

2. Safety Switch

Safety switches for elevators are all planned according to safety requirements, including gate limit switches, cage door limit switches, top door limit switches, limit switches, upper and lower limit switches, and anti-break rope protection switches for counterweights. Some construction sites, for the sake of convenience, manually deactivate or short-circuit some limit switches or fail to correct damages in a timely manner, effectively nullifying these safety barriers and planting the seeds of potential accidents. For example, when a cage needs to carry long objects and the items cannot fit inside the cage, and the gate or top limit switches are manually deactivated, if the aforementioned safety equipment is incomplete or not functioning properly, it is still used to carry people and goods. This illegal operation is a dangerous prank with human lives at stake. To avoid potential accidents, it is hoped that users will strengthen guidance and training, and strictly require elevator safety and operation personnel to regularly check the safety and reliability of various safety switches to prevent accidents from occurring.
