Knowledge of Beer Boxes
A beer box is a paper box made by die-cutting and pressing cardboard into shape, then glued together; its main material is corrugated cardboard.
Beer boxes come in various types such as snap-bottom boxes, double-insert boxes, and airplane boxes, featuring lightweight, easy transportation and storage, and cost-effectiveness. Each type is tailored to different product packaging based on its unique characteristics.
Manufacturing Process
1. Paper selection: Most beer box packaging is made from double copper or matte copper paper, typically weighing around 128g, 105g, or 157g. Rarely would beer box packaging exceed 200g, as thicker packaging tends to cause bubbling in the final product and appears rather dull. The covering paper is chosen based on the customer's requirements and is commonly referred to as gray board paper or gray card stock.
2. Printing plates: Modern beer boxes emphasize aesthetics, hence the wide variety of colors in the printing plates. Typically, a single style of beer box comes in not only four basic colors but also several special colors, such as gold and silver, which are considered special colors.
3. Die Cutting is a crucial step in the printing process. Accuracy is essential; the dies must be precise. Inaccurate die cutting, misalignment, or failure to cut cleanly can all affect subsequent processing.
4. Printing: Beer boxes are only printed with packaging paper, and the lamination is not printed; at most, it's just dyed. Since beer boxes are outer packaging boxes, the printing requirements for beer boxes are very high, and they are particularly averse to defects that affect aesthetics, such as color discrepancies, ink spots, and worn plates.
5. Surface Treatment - The packaging paper for beer boxes usually requires surface treatment, commonly including glossy coating, matte coating, UV coating, glossy oil, and matte oil.
6. Mounting, typically, printing products are mounted after being die-cut, but beer boxes are done the opposite - first die-cut, then mounted. This is because we want to avoid damaging the packaging paper and ensure the overall aesthetic appeal of the beer box. The mounting papers for beer boxes must be handcrafted to achieve a certain level of beauty.
7. Punching: Punch where required, and for areas not to be punched, clean the surface adhesive. Then, the goods are ready for packaging and shipment.
