Beer Box Knowledge

Beer boxes are paper boxes made by pressing and shaping cardboard through a creasing machine and then bonding them together, primarily made of corrugated cardboard.

Beer boxes come in various styles such as bottom-latching, double-insertion, and airplane boxes, featuring lightweight, convenient transportation and storage, and low cost. Each type is applied to different product packaging based on its unique characteristics.

　　Manufacturing Process

1. Paper selection: The common packaging paper for beer boxes is typically made of double copper and matte copper paper, with a grammage of 128G, 105G, or 157G. It's rare for the packaging paper of beer boxes to exceed 200G, as thicker paper tends to cause bubbles during lamination and looks rather dull. The lamination paper is chosen based on customer requirements, commonly known as grey board paper or grey card paper.

2. Die-cutting: Current beer boxes emphasize aesthetic beauty, thus the colors of the dies are diverse. Typically, a style of beer box not only has the 4 basic colors but also features several spot colors, such as gold and silver, which are considered spot colors.

3. Perforating is a crucial step in the printing process. To ensure accuracy, the die cutting must be precise. If the perforating is off, skewed, or doesn't break cleanly, it can affect subsequent processing.

4. Printing: Beer boxes are printed using only printed packaging paper; the lamination is not printed, at most just dyed. Since beer boxes are outer packaging boxes, the printing requirements are very high, and it is particularly prone to aesthetic defects such as color variations, ink spots, and flawed plates.

5. Surface Treatment: The packaging paper for beer boxes usually requires surface treatment, which commonly includes coating with glossy varnish, matte varnish, UV coating, glossy oil, and matte oil.

6. Mounting, typically, printed materials are mounted after being die-cut, but beer boxes are done the opposite—first die-cut then mounted. This is because we want to avoid damaging the packaging paper and also because beer boxes emphasize overall aesthetics. The mounting paper for beer boxes must be handmade to achieve a certain level of beauty.

7. Punch holes where necessary, and for those areas that don't require punching, wipe the surface glue. Then, the goods are ready for packaging and delivery.
