Water well drilling has become a significant factor in water source supply. Consequently, proper maintenance of the machinery is crucial. We not only need to be aware of maintenance basics but also understand the taboos involved in the maintenance process. Join us as we explore the specifics with Qindu Drilling Co., Ltd.

For plunger injection pumps, many maintenance personnel may overlook checking the plunger stroke clearance. In fact, the plunger stroke clearance refers to the distance the plunger can continue to move upwards after being pushed to the top dead center by the cam on the camshaft.

After adjusting the start time of fuel supply, the main reason for checking the formation of excess is due to the wear of the plunger and sleeve; after wear occurs, the drill bit plunger needs to be slightly raised to begin fuel supply, which delays the start. However, when the adjustment bolt is loosened or thicker adjustment blocks or washers are used instead, the plunger will move upwards at a lower position, thereby reducing the plunger stroke excess. Therefore, during maintenance and tuning, it is essential to first check the stroke excess to determine if the fuel injection pump can still be adjusted.

Due to the differing structures of fuel injectors, various methods can be employed during inspections:

1. Rotate the camshaft to push the piston all the way up, then remove the delivery valve and seat, and proceed to measure the depth with the depth gauge.

After pushing the plunger to the top dead center, use a screwdriver to lift the plunger spring retainer, then elevate the plunger to a higher position. Next, measure the distance between the lower flat surface of the plunger and the pushrod adjustment bolt using a thicker gauge. The standard stroke clearance for the plunger is generally about 1.5 millimeters, and the limit stroke clearance after wear should not be less than 0.5 millimeters.

After pushing the plunger to the top dead center, you can use a screwdriver to lift the plunger spring retainer, then elevate the plunger to a higher position; then measure the gap between the bottom flat of the plunger and the pushrod adjustment bolt using a thicker gauge. The standard plunger stroke allowance is generally about 1.5 millimeters, and the allowable stroke after wear should not be less than 0.5 millimeters.
