Diesel generator sets serve as emergency backup power during production, supplying electricity continuously when the municipal power supply is out of service for maintenance. However, due to certain fault causes, the diesel generator sets may suddenly shut down during operation, which not only affects our production work but may also cause damage to the generator sets. Therefore, we would like to share with everyone the causes and troubleshooting methods for sudden shutdowns of diesel generator sets.
1. Cause of failure: Fuel exhaustion or fuel cutoff valve cutting off the fuel line
Procedure: Inspect the fuel shutoff valve to ensure it is open. If closed, it should be opened. Check the fuel tank for fuel. Refuel if the tank is empty.
2. Fault Cause: Poor Fuel Quality
Solution: Inspect and replace fuel.
3. Cause of Failure: Fuel transfer pipeline gas leak
Method: Inspect for loose connections, cracks in the pipes, and whether filters are properly tightened, and correct each issue accordingly.
Issue 4: Oil leakage in the internal or external oil delivery routes
Procedure: Conduct external oil leak checks on all filters, seals, pipes, and fittings. Use pressurized methods for internal oil leak checks. Repair or replace as necessary.
Fault Cause: Fuel Pump Drive Shaft Fracture
Procedure: Inspect the gear pump drive shaft for breakage. Realign or replace as necessary.
6. Fault Cause: Incorrect adjustment or wear of the throttle linkage rod
Solution: Inspect wear, replace and adjust the drive shaft.
7. Fault Cause: Incorrect Idle Spring Assembly
Reassembly and adjustment.
Fault Cause: Incorrect assembly of the centrifugal hammer in the speed limiter
Re-calibration procedure.
9. Cause of Failure: Water or wax in the fuel
Procedure: Replace fuel, change all filters, install a fuel heater.
Fault Cause: Incorrect Fuel Pump Calibration
Solution: Re-calibrate the fuel pump.
11. Cause of Failure: Sealing Pad Leaking Air
Procedure: Conduct pressure tests to identify leaking cylinders. Replace and repair.
