Disinfection: It is crucial to disinfect the bulbs before planting. You can use carbendazim solution by soaking the bulbs in the diluted carbendazim solution (typically at a ratio of 1:1000) for about 20 to 30 minutes. This effectively prevents the bulbs from being infected by pathogens during the planting process.

Soil: Tulips thrive in loose, fertile, and well-drained soil. A mixture of leaf mold, peat, and perlite in a 2:1:1 ratio can be used, or a blend of peat, composted soil, and sand in a 1:1:1 ratio. The soil pH should be maintained between 6 and 7; if the soil is too acidic, a small amount of lime can be added to adjust the pH.

Select suitable planting containers for tulip growth. The size of the pots should be chosen based on the number and size of the bulbs, generally around 15-20 cm in depth to ensure adequate growth space for the bulbs. The bottom of the pots should have drainage holes to prevent waterlogging.

Planting: The planting season typically falls in autumn (September to November), with the planting time in different regions adjusted according to local climatic conditions. When planting, place the bulbs with the tip facing upwards, and bury them to a depth of 2-3 times their height, which is approximately 5-10 centimeters. Maintain a spacing of about 10-15 centimeters between bulbs to ensure ample room for the plants to spread their leaves and roots as they grow. Water the bulbs thoroughly immediately after planting to ensure full contact between the soil and the bulbs.

Management: Keep the soil moist but avoid waterlogging to prevent the bulbs from rotting. Tulips are sun-loving plants and require ample sunlight during growth. Place the pots in a sunny spot, ensuring they receive at least 6-8 hours of sunlight daily. In the early stages of potting, shade the tulips to promote the growth of new roots. After germination, gradually increase the light exposure to encourage stem elongation and flower bud formation. During the blooming period, prevent direct sunlight to extend the flowering duration. The optimal growing temperature is between 15-20°C. Within this range, moderate low temperatures can promote flower bud differentiation. In winter, if temperatures drop too low, take warming measures such as moving the pots indoors or wrapping them with insulating materials. During the dormant period, reduce watering frequency and keep the soil slightly moist. Tulips have a relatively low fertilizer requirement. In the early growth stage, apply some nitrogen fertilizers like urea, diluted according to instructions, to promote leaf growth. When flower buds appear, switch to phosphorus and potassium fertilizers like potassium dihydrogen phosphate, diluted and sprayed on the leaves or watered into the roots, to aid in flower development and blooming.
