Surface Mount Self-Resettable Fuses are designed to protect electronic devices from damage in the event of circuit anomalies, significantly reducing the risk of damage. Common fuses are the fusible elements found inside light bulbs. So, what is a Surface Mount Self-Resettable Fuse? As the name implies, it can automatically return to its normal state. What are the functions of a Surface Mount Self-Resettable Fuse? The SMD self-resettable fuse is an overcurrent electronic protection component made from polymer organic polymers under conditions of high pressure, high temperature, and vulcanization reactions, and processed into a special material after adding conductive particles. The SMD self-resettable fuse is a positive temperature coefficient polymer thermistor that can replace current fuses.

Surface mount self-resetting fuses operate at relatively low temperatures under normal conditions, achieving balance. When in a low resistance state, they are inactive. Even if the current through the surface mount self-resetting fuse increases or the temperature rises, as long as the generated heat and dissipated heat remain balanced, it remains inactive. When the current or ambient temperature increases further, the surface mount self-resetting fuse will reach a higher temperature. If the current or ambient temperature continues to rise while the generated heat exceeds the dissipated heat, the temperature of the surface mount self-resetting fuse will suddenly spike. At this point, even slight temperature changes can cause a significant increase in resistance, putting the surface mount self-resetting fuse into a high resistance protective state. After troubleshooting, it will rapidly cool down and revert to its original low resistance state, resuming operation.

What is a Self-Repairing Fuse: A self-repairing fuse is an overcurrent electronic protective component made by mixing polymer organic polymers with conductive particle materials under high voltage, high temperature, and sulfidation reaction conditions, and then processed through special technology. The self-recovery fuse is a positive temperature coefficient polymer thermistor used for overcurrent protection, which can replace conventional fuses. In response to actual market demand, Tag Electronics has developed and produced two types of self-recovery fuses: surface mount self-recovery fuse boxes and insert-type self-recovery fuses.

The Function of SMD Resettable Fuses: During normal operation, the temperature is relatively low, and the heat generated and dissipated reaches equilibrium. The PPTC component remains in a low-resistance state and is inactive. As the current passing through the PPTC component increases or the ambient temperature rises, the PPTC still remains inactive if the heat generated equals the heat dissipated. When the current or ambient temperature rises again, the PPTC will reach a higher temperature. If the current or ambient temperature continues to rise at this stage, the heat generated will exceed the dissipated heat, causing the PPTC component to suddenly increase in temperature. At this point, even a slight temperature change will result in a significant increase in resistance, putting the PPTC component into a high-resistance protective state. After troubleshooting, the PPTC component quickly cools down and returns to its original low-resistance state, allowing it to work like a new PPTC component.
