What type of flooring is best for a basement parking garage? From my perspective, the most important aspect is the ability to withstand compression and wear without dust or sanding. Aesthetic appeal comes second. The flooring should be tailored to the owner's needs, of course, considering the price is also a factor. Currently, the most commonly used flooring in basement parking garages is concrete hardening flooring. Let's analyze why we all opt for concrete hardening flooring.
Choosing an Underground Garage Floor Material:
(1)金刚砂 flooring
Diamond grit flooring, although diamond grit flooring also features wear and pressure resistance, and is less prone to dust, it comes in various colors. However, with the increase in service life, it may develop dusting and non-pressure-resistant issues. Diamond grit flooring can only be installed when the newly poured concrete is in the initial setting stage. It cannot be applied on old surfaces. Of course, if a 5cm thick fine aggregate concrete layer is laid on the old surface, diamond grit flooring can be installed, but the cost is relatively high, so it's usually not necessary unless the ground is severely damaged, in which case this approach is taken.
(2) Epoxy Floor Paint:
In the past seven to eight years, parking lots were predominantly coated with epoxy floor paint, which offered decorative appeal with a variety of colors to choose from. However, it was not very wear-resistant, prone to chipping, and expensive, with costs typically above 38 yuan per square meter. Usually, parking lots were treated with epoxy mortar floor paint, but the lifespan of epoxy floor paint was short, requiring annual maintenance and a full redo every 3-5 years.
3. Concrete Hardened Flooring
Due to minor imperfections in the bonded abrasive flooring, we introduce the next generation of wear-resistant flooring, also known as concrete hardening flooring. It not only retains all the advantages of bonded abrasive flooring but also addresses its shortcomings. This flooring can be installed on both new and existing surfaces, is cost-effective, and boasts a luster that catches everyone's attention. Moreover, its lifespan is in sync with concrete floors, making it a common sight in various venues.
In summary, from my personal perspective, treating underground parking areas with concrete hardening floors is still the best choice. They are highly resistant to pressure and wear, have a long service life, require minimal maintenance, and significantly reduce maintenance costs.
