The advantages of machine vision detection systems are mainly reflected in non-contact detection measurements and long-term stable operation. For instance, this non-contact measurement method not only prevents damage to the object being measured but is also suitable for situations where the object cannot be physically touched, such as in high temperatures, high pressures, fluids, and hazardous environments. Additionally, the machine vision system can measure multiple dimensions simultaneously, enabling rapid completion of the measurement task and is well-suited for online measurements. Moreover, the system excels in measuring small dimensions, utilizing high-magnification lenses to amplify the object being measured, achieving precision beyond the micron level.


Machine vision dimension measurement is based on relative measurement methods, which calculates the actual size through traceability, scale calibration, automatic edge detection, and screen image measurement. In precise measurements, a scale of 35x or more is required to achieve micrometer-level accuracy, at which point the visual line width is less than 5mm. For objects larger than 5mm, a combination of shift resolution reading and window measurement is needed to complete the measurement.


For precise measurements of minute sizes, machine vision systems excel by utilizing high-magnification industrial or microscopes. From the diameter and quantity of tiny biological cells, to the size of minute assembly gaps, and even the dimensions of smaller mechanical parts and electronic products, the applications of machine vision systems are vast across various fields.


Although there are numerous methods for dimension measurement, most lack repeatability and robustness. It has been proven that dimension measurement based on machine vision technology offers excellent continuity and high precision, significantly enhancing the real-time and accuracy of industrial online measurements.
