Cranes are a type of modern lifting equipment, an essential device and tool for mechanization and automation, offering ease of operation. They have significant applications in major industries such as ports, steel, and chemical plants. Therefore, the maintenance of cranes is of paramount importance. Here are the key points on how to carry out crane maintenance.

Minor repairs

The task of minor maintenance is to eliminate faults discovered during the operation and maintenance of the institution, restoring the machinery to normal operation through repairs and replacement of parts. Minor maintenance involves local repairs, takes less time, and addresses only the issues at hand. Its scope includes: inspecting the mechanical rotating parts, electrical equipment, and metal structure of the entire crane. Cleaning and replacing lubricants at all lubrication points according to their respective lubrication cycles. Dismantling, replacing, or repairing individual components. Repairing or replacing certain electrical components. For mechanical and electrical components showing signs of damage, technical preparations should be made for predictable repairs to be addressed during the next maintenance cycle.

2. Mid-term Maintenance

Zhongxiu involves partially disassembling the crane to repair or replace worn-out parts, adjust the crane's geometric position and accuracy, and maintain its technological performance. In addition to the full content of minor repairs, it includes: disassembly, inspection, cleaning, repair, or replacement of frequently used and heavily loaded mechanical and electrical components, followed by lubrication. Scheduled replacements are made for mechanical and electrical components that have been technically prepared.

Inspect and replace aged wiring and damaged electrical components in the crane's electrical system.

3. Major Overhaul

Major overhaul involves disassembling and inspecting each component, repairing parts that can be fixed, replacing those that cannot, and ensuring the crane meets or comes close to the technical and mechanical standards specified at the factory after the overhaul. The main repair content includes:

All components of the institutional section, including reducers, couplings, drum assemblies, wheel assemblies, and lifting devices, have been disassembled. Damaged and worn-out parts have been replaced, cleaned, reassembled, and lubricated with oil. Steel cables, brake mechanisms of all units, and their release devices have been replaced as well.

All machinery motors should be dispersed, dried, assembled, and lubricated, with severely damaged motors replaced. Replace the opening devices for all machinery brakes; replace all worn-out cam controllers; inspect or replace the protective cabinets; replace all wiring connections and rewire the installations; and replace the control panels of the lighting and signaling system, etc.

In the metal structure section, corrective repairs and reinforcement were made to main beams that had experienced downward deflection or lateral bending; the entire crane was thoroughly cleaned and painted twice for protection.

The crane, after major repairs, will undergo a debugging process. It will then be tested according to the static and dynamic load trial procedures for certification before it can be put into production and use.
