In modern office design, lighting can enhance the office environment and coordinate color effects, and it is also a significant factor influencing employees' office mood and enthusiasm. The lighting methods in office spaces are mainly composed of natural lighting and artificial lighting. Natural light, due to its varying properties, categories, and projection methods, has different effects on color. When artificial lighting is projected onto objects, the hue, brightness, and saturation of the colors change. With incandescent bulbs, objects with an inherent yellow color become brighter, while those with an inherent blue color become dimmer. Blue appears bright under sunlight but almost black under the illumination of white paper.
To meet the requirements of indoor applications, colored light sources are often used to emphasize certain areas of light and color. This causes the hue, brightness, and saturation of objects to change accordingly under the reflection of light. In office design and renovation, in addition to natural light, artificial lighting is often necessary when natural light is poor, especially at night. Therefore, the influence of lighting on color should also be considered in color design. Moreover, under the reflected light of outdoor and indoor environments, indoor objects form a mixture of object colors and light colors, resulting in changes in hue, brightness, and saturation. For example, under the reflection of high-pressure mercury lamps, pink becomes purple, and blue turns into a blue-violet shade.
This is the phenomenon where the light source causes distortion in the color of objects. For office spaces with high visual requirements, it's essential to choose light sources that are easy to color. Color is the crystallization of human wisdom and nature's collaboration. Different individuals have varying interpretations of color, and the same color can have different psychological and physiological effects on people. Therefore, when designing, we should fully understand the characteristics of various colors and engage in in-depth communication with users.
