Shellac Activated Carbon is a type of activated carbon. It is black, granular in form, and used for the purification of industrial harmful gases such as selenium disulfide, chloroethylene, methanol, acetone, nitrogen monoxide, and more. High-quality raw materials like coconut shell, peach shell, walnut shell, jujube shell, and other fruit shells are used to produce this activated carbon. It is processed through a series of production techniques. It boasts excellent wear resistance, well-developed porosity, high adsorption capacity, high strength, ease of regeneration, and economic durability.

Shell activated carbon, with its well-developed pore structure, exhibits excellent adsorption properties, and is therefore widely used in water treatment. Here, the editor would like to share with you seven clever applications of shell activated carbon in wastewater treatment using the adsorption method, for your reference!

In wastewater treatment, adsorption methods can remove heavy metal ions (such as mercury, chromium) and ammonia nitrogen from the wastewater.

2. Can be frequently used to treat organic matter in wastewater that is difficult to biodegrade by biochemical methods or to oxidize by general oxidation methods, including lignin, chloro- or nitro-substituted aromatic compounds, heterocyclic compounds, detergents, synthetic dyes, and COD.

3. When treating such wastewater with activated carbon from fruit shells, it not only adsorbs the hard-to-decompose organic matter, reducing COD, but also removes color and odor from the wastewater, processing it to a reusable level.

In the processing workflow, adsorption can be used as a pretreatment before membrane separation and other methods to remove organic matter, colloidal substances, and residual chlorine.

5. The adsorption method, leveraging the characteristics of fruit shell activated carbon, can also be combined with other physical and chemical methods to form what is known as a physicochemical process.

6. Adsorption methods can also be combined with biochemical methods, such as adding powdered fruit shell activated carbon to the aeration pond, utilizing granular adsorbents as a growth carrier for microorganisms or as a medium for biological fluidized beds.

7. Adsorption treatment is conducted after biological processing to ensure the quality of recycled water.
