Drones are widely used in various industries, capable of executing dangerous tasks without hesitation, thanks to their strong concealment, quick response, flexible operation, and the ability to fly continuously for long periods. The cost of developing, manufacturing, and using drones is significantly lower than that of piloted drones. However, there are important considerations when using drones, particularly in high-temperature environments during summer. The battery performance can severely degrade and internal temperatures can rise continuously due to intense heat release reactions, leading to sudden temperature spikes and thermal runaway, which may cause fires or explosions. Moreover, in high temperatures, battery voltage increases, and using batteries can lead to overheating. Stored batteries can also exacerbate leakage.

Summer High-Temperature Drone Operations Recommendations:

1. Prior to the drone's takeoff, the battery must be fully charged to ensure it remains at a high voltage state. Using a battery that isn't fully charged not only results in a low starting voltage but also causes the battery voltage to decrease further in high-temperature environments, exacerbating the risk of insufficient voltage. Inspect the drone's battery for any signs of damage or deformation. Check for any broken or burned metal pieces in the battery interface. Verify that the battery charging cable is secure and that the insertion and removal process of the battery is smooth.

2. After the drone takes off, gently manipulate the control sticks to avoid aggressive maneuvers. In high-temperature conditions, voltage drops can occur rapidly, so always monitor the battery level and reduce flight duration. It's advisable to return to the launch site early to avoid returning with low battery.

3. Avoid charging the drone's battery under high temperatures and direct sunlight, and do not charge immediately after flying in high temperatures. Also, prevent overcharging; the battery is fully charged when the charger indicator turns green, and it should not be charged for extended periods. Do not use the battery if it emits an odor, heats up, deforms, changes color, or shows any other abnormal signs. If the battery is in use or being charged, remove it from the electrical source or charger immediately and stop using it. Do not use batteries in extremely hot environments, such as direct sunlight or inside a car on a hot day. Otherwise, the battery may overheat, potentially ignite, which can affect battery performance and reduce its lifespan. Use the battery only under the specified conditions of the cell, otherwise, it may decrease battery performance or shorten its lifespan.

4. When not in use, drone equipment batteries should be removed and stored separately. Do not place batteries near heat sources or flammable and explosive materials. Avoid long-term storage of batteries in high temperatures outdoors, as this can significantly reduce battery activity and may cause irreversible performance decline in lithium batteries. Maintain a dry storage environment and avoid placing batteries in areas prone to leakage, melting ice and snow, or humidity. Do not leave batteries in a fully discharged state for an extended period to prevent damage to the cells, as this may render them unusable. For long-term storage, ensure the environment is between -10°C and 35°C. If the battery has not been used for a long time, it is recommended to recharge and discharge it every 2-3 months to maintain battery activity.
