We all know that tungsten carbide gauge pins possess excellent properties such as high hardness, wear resistance, good strength and toughness, heat resistance, and corrosion resistance. Particularly, their high hardness and wear resistance remain largely unchanged even at 500°C and retain a high level of hardness at 1000°C. They are suitable for processing a variety of products, fitting numerous machinery and equipment, making them a versatile gauge tool. With the increased usage of tungsten carbide gauge pins, the market has seen a proliferation of products. Consumer demand drives production, leading to a wide selection of tungsten carbide gauge pins available on the market, including a fair share of subpar products. It is crucial for us to understand some basic knowledge about tungsten carbide gauge pins to avoid being deceived by unscrupulous merchants.

Needle gauge specifications

One: Uncold-processed needle gauge materials have a high expansion coefficient, which can lead to exceeding the tolerance due to time and temperature reasons.

Hardness, a significant factor affecting durability, can vary even among materials with the same hardness level.

Three: The cylindrical dimension, with a 50mm outer diameter, must be within tolerance; any end exceeding the tolerance is considered不合格.

Four: Roundness, generally within half of the tolerance, e.g., +/-1μm roundness must be within 1μm. +/-0.5μm roundness must be within 0.5μm.     

Five: Finish quality, the needle gauge's outer diameter is quite thick. Upon magnification, it resembles a mountain range with peaks and valleys. This results in a limited contact area; once the peaks wear down, precision is lost. The higher the finish quality, the more durable it is, as it has a larger contact area and is more resistant to wear. High-quality needle gauges all achieve a mirror-like finish.

Six: Precision, a basic indicator, varies across different companies' products.Our produced calipers are made of SKD-11 material, vacuum heat treated and cryogenically treated, achieving high tolerances up to +/-0.3μm. True roundness: 0.15μm, cylindricality: 0.3μm, surface finish: RA 0.05 (mirror-like), with all specifications very close to imported quality.

Tungsten carbide pin gauges are made from tungsten carbide, which boasts exceptional properties on its own. Tungsten carbide is widely used as material for tools and needles, such as lathe and milling cutters. Tungsten carbide (hard alloy) is also employed in making rock drilling tools, mining tools, drilling equipment, measuring instruments, wear-resistant parts, metal grinding tools, cylinder linings, precision bearings, nozzles, and more. The sintering process involves pressing the powder into billets, then heating them in a sintering furnace to a certain temperature (sintering temperature) for a specific duration (holding time), followed by cooling. Standard tungsten carbide pin gauges are commonly obtained, but our tungsten carbide pin gauges require targeted modifications and磨合 with various auxiliary materials and processes to meet the standard.
