Activated carbon has adsorption properties and plays a crucial role in treating industrial wastewater. Generally, powdered activated carbon can be used in physical and chemical treatment methods for wastewater treatment. To help you understand powdered activated carbon, we will now specifically introduce how to treat industrial wastewater with it and methods to judge its performance.

Volume Weight Method

Powdered activated carbon's ability to quickly and effectively adsorb toxic substances from liquids, as well as its powerful de-coloring capabilities, are both related to its well-developed pore structure. As the impurities in the liquid flow past the powdered activated carbon, they are adsorbed into the pores, thereby achieving the purpose of purifying water sources or de-coloring wastewater.

The volumetric weight method we discuss here for assessing the quality of powdered activated carbon is based on its pore structure. The more developed the pore structure of powdered activated carbon, the lighter its weight becomes. More developed pore structures result in stronger adsorption capabilities. Similarly, when comparing two powdered activated carbons of the same volume, the one with the lighter weight exhibits stronger adsorption properties. Similarly, when comparing two powdered activated carbons of the same weight, the one with a larger volume has stronger adsorption properties!

Two: Observation of Bleaching Method

The observation of decolorization capability refers to assessing the strength of powdered activated carbon's decolorization ability. The specific experimental method is as follows: We take a certain amount of ink, which refers to the blue or red ink used in fountain pens, not the black ink for writing Chinese characters with a brush, which should be noted. Mix the prepared ink with an equal amount of clear water, stir well, then pour the well-mixed ink into two measuring cups, ensuring the same amount is poured into each.

Additionally, take several samples of the two powdered activated carbon types to be compared, ensuring the sample weights are as consistent as possible to enhance the persuasiveness of the experimental results. Pour each powdered activated carbon product into separate ink sample cups, stir well, then let them settle for approximately 5-10 minutes before observing the clarity of the cups. The cup with a higher clarity indicates a stronger decolorization ability of the powdered activated carbon than the cup with more turbidity, thus, this is the essence of observing the decolorization method!
