Attenuator classifications:

The attenuators are categorized by function into fixed attenuators and variable attenuators, with the variable attenuators further divided into push-button step-adjustable attenuators and programmable attenuators.

When selecting an attenuator, it's crucial to consider not only the basic specifications like frequency range, power, and attenuation amount, but also the electrical performance parameters such as connector type, attenuation accuracy, SWR, and service life to ensure the stability of the attenuation measurement.

Stability: In microwave measurements, the attenuation value of an attenuator is often used as a reference. Therefore, measurement accuracy is not only determined by the precision of the reference standard but also by the stability of the insertion process. Typical manufacturing tests may require hundreds of insertion and removal tests daily, making the precision of the attenuation value measurement extremely closely related to the quality of the attenuator used.
