High-purity water equipment primarily uses four types of filtration: precise filter cores, activated carbon filter cores, reverse osmosis membranes, etc. The stable operation of high-purity water equipment is not only closely related to its own quality but also greatly depends on whether the daily maintenance is timely. Regular maintenance and inspections of high-purity water equipment during daily use help identify and resolve issues early on, thereby extending the equipment's lifespan. Post-installation and debugging, daily maintenance plays a crucial role in extending the equipment's service life, enhancing operational efficiency, and reinforcing water production quality. The daily maintenance of high-purity water equipment mainly involves the forward and reverse flushing of the pretreatment unit, cleaning of the reverse osmosis membrane, regeneration cleaning of the softening resin and mixed bed columns, as well as daily shutdown protection of the reverse osmosis main unit.

I. Maintenance of the Front-end Processor:

1. Quartz sand and activated carbon filters should be cleaned based on the quality of the raw water: for tap water, a rinse is recommended once a week (counting 7 days), while for poor water quality such as groundwater, river water, well water, etc., a rinse should be performed every three days to ensure timely removal of sediment, impurities, and particles from the pre-treatment unit.

2. If the differential pressure across the security filter increases to >0.06 Mpa, the filter cartridge must be replaced to ensure the RO unit operates properly. Suggestion: The filter cartridge should be removed, inspected, and cleaned every three days. The replacement cycle of the filter cartridge depends on the quality of the incoming water, typically replacing it every 15 days.

3. Avoid high-temperature exposure for the softened resin tank; regenerate the resin every 15 days with recycled liquid.

Section 2: Maintenance of Reverse Osmosis Units:

1. Regularly record various operating parameters of the RO unit. Suggestion: Record each operating parameter of the RO unit every two hours.

2. As operating time increases, sediment will accumulate on the membrane surface, affecting permeate flow rate, so RO elements should be cleaned regularly. If the pressure of each membrane element in the component exceeds 0.1 Mpa, immediate cleaning is required (cleaning is performed by the cleaning system). Targeted treatment measures are taken based on different pollution conditions. Specific cleaning methods are detailed in "Chemical Cleaning Methods for Reverse Osmosis Membranes."

3. Regularly inspect and calibrate the conductivity meters and pressure gauges to ensure they operate accurately and normally.

4. Schedule regular inspections of the electrical control system to ensure proper equipment operation.

5. Schedule regular inspections of the high-pressure pump and RO pre-pump, and replace lubricating oil as per the maintenance manual.


Three: Equipment Maintenance During Downtime

During periods of equipment downtime (such as national holidays, seasonal shutdowns, factory maintenance, etc.), the following maintenance points for the reverse osmosis unit (including the electrical control system and reverse osmosis membranes) are as follows:

1. Temporary shutdown of the RO unit (not exceeding three days) requires a 30-minute flush with a security filter daily, ensuring the RO components are filled with filtered water.

2. If the RO unit is shut down for an extended period (greater than three days), fill the RO components with 1% formaldehyde, close all valves, and inspect monthly. In summer, control the environmental temperature to prevent mold; in winter, prevent freezing. If necessary, add 10-20% glycerin.

3. Save water by using reverse osmosis pure water, and formaldehyde should be used with chemical reagent products.

4. When a reverse osmosis system composed of composite membranes is to be suspended for use for more than one week, it should be soaked in a 1% NaHSO3 solution to prevent bacterial growth on the membrane surface.

Membrane Contamination Definition: Membrane contamination refers to the physical or chemical interactions between particles, colloidal particles, or macromolecules of solutes in the feed stream contacting the membrane, or the concentration of certain solutes exceeding their solubility on the membrane surface due to concentration polarization.
