Four Essential Uses of Diesel Generator Sets:
1. Self-generated power is essential. Certain power consumers, such as those on remote islands away from the mainland, in remote pastures and rural areas, and at work stations and radar stations on desert plateaus, require self-generated power sources. Self-generated power refers to power generated and used independently, and in cases where the power generation capacity is not too high, diesel generators are often the preferred choice for self-generated power.
备用 power supplies, also known as emergency power sources, serve the purpose of providing backup in case certain utility consumers, despite having a stable and reliable grid power supply, may experience unexpected situations such as circuit failures or temporary power outages. It is evident that backup power supplies are a type of self-generated power, but they are not used as the primary power source; instead, they are employed as a means of relief only in emergency situations.
Three, Substitute Power Source. The role of the substitute power source is to compensate for the lack of grid power supply. There may be two scenarios: 1) The grid power price is too high, and from the perspective of cost-saving, a diesel generator set is chosen as the substitute power source; 2) In cases where grid power supply is insufficient, the use of grid power is restricted, and power supply authorities are forced to frequently cut off power, at which point, for the normal production and operation, the substitute power source is needed for relief.
Fourth, Mobile Power Supplies. Mobile power supplies are portable power generation devices that lack a fixed application location and are used everywhere. Diesel generator sets have become the preferred choice for mobile power supplies due to their simplicity, agility, and ease of operation. Mobile power supplies are generally designed for power vehicles, which include self-powered vehicles as well as trailer-mounted power vehicles.
The four primary uses of these diesel generator sets have emerged in response to the different stages of social development.
