Performance Grade of Diesel Generator Sets
Section 7 of the national standard GB/T2820.1-1997, "AC Generating Sets Driven by Reciprocating Internal Combustion Engines," Part: Application, Ratings, and Performance, specifies four performance levels for diesel generating sets.
(1) G1 performance requirements apply to connection loads that only require specified basic parameters such as voltage and frequency. Primarily used for general purposes, such as lighting and other simple electrical loads.
(2) The G2 performance level applies to loads that have the same requirements for voltage characteristics as the public power system. They may experience temporary, yet permissible, deviations in voltage and frequency when the load changes, such as in lighting systems, pumps, and fans.
(3) G3-level performance requirements apply to connection devices that have strict demands on frequency, voltage, and waveform characteristics, such as radio communication and thyristor rectifier-controlled loads.
(4) G4-level performance requirements apply to loads with particularly strict demands on frequency, voltage, and waveform characteristics, such as data processing equipment or computer systems.
