Ozone generators produce ozone within the gap between the internal and external electrode zones. The ozone is highly concentrated and can be collected and utilized, such as for water treatment. The electrodes of open-type generators are exposed to the air, with the produced ozone diffusing directly into the atmosphere. Due to its lower concentration, it is typically used for air sterilization in smaller spaces or for the surface disinfection of certain small items. Gap discharge generators can be used in place of open-type generators. However, the cost of gap discharge ozone generators is significantly higher than that of open-type generators.
