Outdoor LED Display's Weatherproofing

As summer approaches, the LED display industry gradually picks up its sales pace. More and more households are seeing the application of products in airports, buildings, outdoor advertising columns, and with the country's gradual adoption of the summer holiday mode, harsh environments are becoming increasingly common. Ores and more testing are required. However, faced with the special conditions of summer heat and rainy thunderstorms, it cannot rely solely on the strong weather resistance of the LED display itself.

Omitting multiple installations and repairs during the later stages of construction is a cause of reduced lifespan for LED displays, as well as various issues such as lightning protection, high-temperature heat dissipation, and waterproofing. The author of this article has compiled some experiences for your reference.

Generally, it is not recommended to use air conditioners. If conditions permit, two fans with a diameter of 300mm can be used, depending on the size of the installation space. If an LED screen is mounted on the wall and can protrude one meter from the wall, it is advisable to select the fan based on the size of the area, and the installation position of the fan should be arranged above the screen. After installing the fan, ensure that there is a mesh inside to prevent technical personnel from absorbing clothes or other items on the repair screen, which could cause personal injury.

To prevent water damage, an aluminum louver must be installed on the fan outlet of the aluminum-plastic panel. Air conditioners can also be installed on suspended wall-mounted LED displays, ensuring there is enough space for the air conditioner unit without affecting the overall appearance of the wall. The selection of air conditioners is essential; generally, using 1.5P, 2P, and 3P air conditioners is important. In northern cities, 1P air conditioners are calculated based on 20 square meters. In southern cities, 1P air conditioners are calculated based on 15 square meters. If the LED outdoor display area is large, a customized air conditioner is required.

If the installation method of the LED display is using poles, it is recommended to use a cooling fan. The fan should be installed on the top of the aluminum-plastic plate on the back of the large screen, so that when it rains, the rain will not enter the screen. For an LED display in a double-pole form, several shutters can be opened in the middle double-pole position, with the window as the air intake and the exhaust fan on top, thus forming a complete air convection for better heat dissipation.
