Weed Control Fabric, also known as "grass suppression fabric" or "cover crop fabric," is a ground cloth designed to suppress weed growth. This refers to the prevention of unwanted plant growth. The fabric is woven from plastic filaments in both warp and weft directions through a complex manufacturing process. It is primarily used on ground surfaces in orchards, greenhouses, flower beds, and for planting Chinese herbs. Its purpose includes weed control, herbicide reduction, drainage, pest and disease prevention, ground cleanliness maintenance, and marking and guidance. The weed control fabric is typically black, comes in various sizes, and is made of PP (polypropylene) material. Generally, PP fabric can last for 3-5 years. The common approach to laying the fabric is to cover an area one meter wide on both sides of the fruit trees, overlapping the fabric by 50mm to 100mm, covering the edges with soil to secure them, and using ground pegs to fasten the overlaps every meter, or securing them with soil blocks or stones on-site.
