The Black Pine Tree, known for its adaptability, ease of survival, and most importantly, its evergreen foliage throughout the year, is widely planted in parks, residential areas, and streets. It can be used for landscaping, as avenue trees, and for greening barren mountains, winning the hearts of many. It has become a popular tree species in recent years. The Laiwu Huarong Greening Seedling Base now summarizes and introduces the seedling cultivation techniques as follows:

Leiwan Huarong Greening Seedling Base selects and treats the plots for shaping black pine trees.

Seeding should be conducted in sandy loam with slightly acidic pH, moisture retention, good permeability, and ideal irrigation conditions. Apply organic fertilizer at a rate of 1 ton per mu before sowing.5000kg of NPK triple compound fertilizer, 50kg each. To prevent seedling diseases and pests, particularly subsoil pests, 8-10kg of ferrous sulfate, 2kg of phosgene granules, and fine soil should be mixed together and spread on the surface. Then, conduct deep plowing, fine tilling, and leveling the ridges, with a ridge width of 1 meter, a berm width of 30 centimeters, and a ridge length of 20-30 meters.

Laiwu Huarong Greening Seedling Base seed treatment, sowing time, and methods for shaping black pine trees

Seeds do not require dormancy, allowing for both autumn and spring sowing. This article mainly introduces the spring sowing method. The sowing time is based on...Mid-March to mid-April is ideal. Before planting, mix the seeds with wet sand in a 1:3 ratio and store them under 3-5°C conditions for a month of cold sand storage treatment. During the stratification period, regular checks and management are required, and if any seeds germinate, they should be sown promptly. First, water the beds thoroughly before sowing, wait for the water to seep through, and then sow about 200 seeds per square meter. After sowing, cover the seeds with 0.5 cm of fine soil. To conserve moisture and increase soil temperature, promoting early and even germination, cover the ground with film or a small hoop house. Pay attention to ventilation in the hoop house, and provide shade if the temperature exceeds 30°C in the afternoon. Seedlings usually emerge within 15-20 days after sowing.

Section 3: Management and Growth of Black Pine Seedlings at Laiwu Huarong Greening Seedling Base

Seedlings emerge with slow initial growth and poor resistance, requiring frequent watering to maintain soil moisture. It is also important to promptly remove weeds, turn the soil while weeding, and add as much soil as possible to prevent the seedlings from toppling. As the seedlings grow toWhen the seedlings reach 5 cm in height, thinning is conducted, typically after thorough watering, removing weak, diseased, and small seedlings at a spacing of 10-15 cm. Maintain the robust and uniform growth of the seedlings. In case of gaps, transplant seedlings with soil balls during rainy days. In early June, apply urea in conjunction with watering at a rate of 15 kg per mu. In mid-July, apply another 10-15 kg of urea per mu. Control water appropriately in the later stages. If caterpillars and other pests are found, spray a 4,000-fold solution of 2.5% cypermethrin for control.
