I. Overview

Dry-wet combined closed-loop cooling towers, also known as dry-wet combined, dry-wet mixed, or dry-wet integrated closed-loop cooling towers, combine dry and wet coil systems, leveraging the benefits of both heat transfer methods. The dry coil takes advantage of lower local temperatures to reduce the medium to near dry-bulb temperature, consuming only the kinetic energy of air movement, with no water usage. The wet coil further reduces the medium to near wet-bulb temperature, compensating for the dry coil's inability to reach wet-bulb temperatures. This results in significant water savings and is highly favored by users.


II. Process of Operation

1. Production equipment generates heat, which is transferred to the circulating medium, high-temperature medium, and then enters a dry-wet combined closed cooling tower through enclosed pipelines.

2. High-temperature medium enters the dry cooling coil, transferring heat to the fins through the base pipe, where it exchanges heat with the fast-moving airflow, carrying away heat energy and reducing the temperature.

3. The cooled medium then enters the wet coil, where it is further cooled by the evaporation and condensation of spray water. This results in a greater cooling range compared to the dry coil, but requires the consumption of spray water.

4. The circulating medium is cooled and its temperature reduced by passing through dry and wet coil, meeting the process requirements. It is then recirculated back to the production equipment, where it reheats, and the cycle repeats.



III. Advantages

1. Dry Spiral Coil: Zero water consumption, no scaling on the outside of the pipe, high-temperature drop directly, fully utilizing the local low-temperature characteristics of the project, using air to cool down the high-temperature medium by approximately 2~4 degrees, achieving complete zero water consumption.

2. Wet-type: High efficiency, large temperature difference, low investment; reduces the circulating medium to the required temperature for the production process, minimizing investment in dry-type coils.


IV. Application Scenarios

1. Northwest Region: Water-scarce and arid area; reducing water consumption also helps lower branch expenses.

2. Sufficient Power Supply Areas: Due to the large air volume required during dry operation and the higher power rating of the fan motor, electrical energy consumption is considerable. This makes it particularly suitable for regions with abundant power supply from wind, hydro, tidal, and nuclear energy.
