Introduction and Analysis of the Lifting Mechanism of Cranes

2024-11-13

The lifting mechanism of the crane consists of hydraulic motors, reducers, brakes, steel cables, and tip sheaves.

Below, we give you a brief introduction to the working principle of the lifting structure of cranes and some precautions to take:
The hoisting mechanism is divided into two main parts: the main and auxiliary winches. The main and auxiliary winch structures of the crane are the same (only the length of the steel wire rope differs), and the operation handles for both are identical and located in the control room. For specific operating instructions, please refer to the manual.
Stop: Return the main winch control handle to the center position to halt the lifting or lowering of heavy loads.
Due to the inclusion of a balance valve in the hydraulic system, not only does it ensure smooth lifting, but it also allows heavy objects to remain at any desired position.
The main winch is used for the main boom operation. As the boom extends during operation, the lifting height increases, which may result in insufficient wire rope length. In such cases, the wire rope ratio can be adjusted by replacing it. Ensure that the height limiting weight is properly installed when changing the ratio.
a. Principle of Operation
Once the system pressure reaches the brake activation pressure, the normally closed brake opens, the piston moves, and the braking is released. The motor output shaft, through a deceleration device, drives the connected drum to rotate, accomplishing the lifting function. As the system pressure gradually decreases, the brake piston, under the force of the spring, gradually returns to its original position, tightening the friction disc, and stopping the drum's rotation to achieve the braking function. The working principle during lowering is essentially the same as that during lifting (the motor rotates in reverse).
Note:
1) Select the appropriate wire rope multiplier based on the crane arm length. When the hook rotates due to the wire rope being coiled, the heavy object must be lowered, and the wire rope must be completely uncoiled before it can be lifted.
The number of wire rope loops on the drum of the winch must not be fewer than three under any lifting conditions.
During lifting operations, first elevate the load off the ground and pause for a moment to ensure there are no safety hazards before continuing the lift.
(4) The lifting arm and extension arm may not be used to lift the load off the ground before it has been fully lifted. Only lifting operations are permitted.
Do not abruptly shift the control handle from "lifting" to "lowering" or from "lowering" to "lifting." When making the switch, return the handle to the center position, ensure the drum has stopped rotating, and then proceed with the operation. Failure to do so may cause damage to the machinery.
6) The lifting equipment must have sufficient strength, including the weight of the hook and the lifting device itself.
Avoid excessively high lifting speeds under loaded conditions.
