Why Do There Exist Color Variations? The surface of sports wooden floors in gymnasiums naturally feature subtle color variations. So, what's the deal with the color differences in sports wooden floors? The installer of sports wooden floors states that color variations are a normal occurrence.

Why do solid wood sports floors exhibit color variations? It's because trees grow in different environments, with variations in height, density, and exposure to sunlight or shade, which leads to differences even among the same species of trees from different regions. Even within the same forest, the trees may show different colors and textures. What is color variation? It doesn't refer to significant differences in color depth or contrast on a single board. Instead, it describes the subtle variations in tone, whether light or dark, that occur across an entire floor laid with the same wood color. This "definitely exists" and is "normal."

So, slight color variations are normal. However, if the color difference is not subtle, it indicates a difference in the quality of solid wood sports flooring. There are indeed some unscrupulous merchants in the market who install solid wood flooring for customers that is not of the same grade as the sample provided. So, how are sports wood floors categorized? Sports floors commonly used in gymnasiums typically use northern maple and oak for the surface layer. These woods are further divided into Grade A, Grade B, and Grade C, among others.

Grade A panels are superior sports wood floor surfaces, featuring smooth and aesthetically pleasing textures with consistent colors. Free from cracks, wormholes, or corrosion, they also do not exhibit defects such as warping or bending.

B-grade sports wood flooring panels differ little in quality from A-grade panels. The only slight distinction is a color variation and the presence of knots, which are not as aesthetically pleasing as the A-grade panels.

C-grade sports wood flooring panels have significant color variations and knots. However, the price of sports flooring is relatively low.
