Over the past two years, counterfeit edible salt has been discovered in Yining County. The Salt Administration Management Office of Yining County has seized 5 tons of fake edible salt from the circulation and sales market. The packaging of this counterfeit salt is very similar to the genuine product, making it impossible for the general public to distinguish between them; only professional technicians can identify the differences. The subtle distinctions lie in the anti-counterfeiting trademarks, seals, and the manufacturing date on the packaging bags. The genuine edible salt's manufacturing date is printed on the anti-counterfeiting label, whereas the counterfeit salt's manufacturing date is stamped on later in the process.
A clandestine factory producing counterfeit salt was hidden in a small warehouse. In its simplistic, disorderly environment, bags of pre-packaged counterfeit salt were stacked. Equipped with simulated packaging, fully automatic sealing machines, and electronic scales, an automatic production line had long been established here. The counterfeit salt produced is generally indistinguishable to the naked eye, and some has already been loaded onto trucks, accumulating in the corners of the warehouse.
Relevant authorities, public security agencies, salt administration units, and other experts propose that relevant departments adopt comprehensive management methods, policies, and regulations to strengthen the prevention of iodine deficiency diseases, ensuring the safety of salt consumption for the people.
