Ball Valve Series

1. A ball valve is a type of valve that uses a spherical body with a circular passage as the shut-off mechanism. The ball rotates with the valve stem to control the opening and closing action. The shut-off component of a ball valve is a hollow sphere that rotates around an axis perpendicular to the passage, thereby opening or closing the passage. Ball valves are primarily used for opening and closing pipelines and equipment media.

2. The ball valve evolved from a plug valve. It has the same action of rotating 90 degrees to lift, but the difference is that the plug body is spherical with a circular through-hole or passage along its axis. The ratio of the spherical surface to the passage opening should be such that when the ball rotates 90 degrees, the ball surface should completely cover both the inlet and outlet, thereby stopping the flow. The ball valve can be tightly closed with just a 90-degree rotation and a minimal torque, providing a fully equal valve body cavity that offers a low-resistance, straight-through flow path for the medium.

3. Traditionally, globe valves are considered suitable for direct on/off use, but recent developments have designed globe valves to serve both throttling and flow control purposes. The main features of globe valves include their compact structure, ease of operation and maintenance, and suitability for general working media such as water, solvents, acids, and natural gas. They are also applicable to harsh working conditions with media like oxygen, hydrogen peroxide, methane, and ethylene. The body of a globe valve can be either integral or assembled.

Ball valve working principle

1. A globe valve features the same 90-degree rotation action, but differs in that the plug is spherical, with a circular bore or passage through its axis. Globe valves are primarily used in pipelines for cutting off, distributing, and changing the flow direction of media. They can be tightly closed with just a 90-degree rotation and a minimal torque. Globe valves are suitable for use as on/off and cut-off valves, but recent developments have designed globe valves to also serve as throttling and flow control devices, such as V-ball valves.
2. The main features of ball valves include their compact structure, reliable sealing, simple design, ease of maintenance, and the sealing surface and ball surface typically being in a closed state, making them resistant to erosion by media. They are easy to operate and maintain, suitable for general working media such as water, solvents, acids, and natural gas. Moreover, they are also suitable for harsh working conditions with media like oxygen, hydrogen peroxide, methane, and ethylene, and are widely used across various industries. The valve body can be either integral or modular.

Ball valve features

1. Ball valves are not restricted by installation direction, allowing the flow direction of the medium to be arbitrary. They have low fluid resistance, and full-bore ball valves have almost no flow resistance.
2. The ball valve features a simple structure, compact size, light weight, and ease of maintenance.
3. Tightly Reliable. It features two sealing surfaces, and currently, the sealing surface materials for ball valves are widely used in various plastics, ensuring good sealing properties and achieving complete seal. It is also extensively used in vacuum systems.
4. Ball valves are suitable for frequent operation, with quick and easy opening and closing. They are easy to operate, can be opened or closed swiftly, and only require a 90° rotation from fully open to fully closed, making them convenient for remote control.
5. Easy maintenance, with a simple ball valve structure. The seals are typically movable, making disassembly and replacement quite convenient.
6. The ball valve features excellent sealing performance. When fully open or closed, the sealing surfaces of the ball and the valve seat are isolated from the medium, preventing any erosion of the valve sealing surface during passage of the medium.
7. Wide application range, from a few millimeters to several meters in diameter, and from high vacuum to high pressure.
8. Due to the wiping action during the opening and closing process, ball valves are suitable for use with mediums containing suspended solid particles.
9. The ball valve has low fluid resistance.
10. Ball valves are vibration-free with minimal noise.
