Overview

Brass alloyed with copper, zinc, and silicon. It boasts excellent corrosion resistance in both air and seawater, with higher resistance to stress corrosion cracking than standard brass. Silicon content is typically below 4%. The commonly used silicon brass 80Cu-17Zn-3Si is suitable for hot-forming processes, has good corrosion resistance, and in its soft state, features a tensile strength of 300MPa and elongation of 58%. It is ideal for manufacturing ship parts, steam pipe fittings, and water pipe accessories. The lead content in this alloy must not exceed 0.01%, as it can impair thermal plasticity, particularly its hot-forging properties. The leaded silicon brass 65Cu-31.5Zn-1.5Si-Pb exhibits high machinability, lubricity, and corrosion resistance, and is primarily used as a substitute for wear-resistant tin bronze.

Features

HSi80-3 brass alloy features excellent mechanical properties, high corrosion resistance, no tendency to corrode and crack, good wear resistance. It has good pressure processing properties in both cold and hot states, is easy to weld and braze, and has good machinability. Its thermal and electrical conductivity is the lowest among brass alloys.

Usage

HSi80-3 silicon brass is used for ship parts, steam pipes, and water pipe fittings, etc.
