After a period of use, residential elevators often encounter various malfunctions. However, these issues are not necessarily caused by wear and tear or aging of the mechanical parts, and the reasons for the malfunctions are diverse. Therefore, maintenance personnel should analyze the specific issues faced by the elevator, determine their type, and then proceed with the appropriate solutions.

I. Types of Elevator Malfunctions

Design, manufacture, and installation failures

Manufacturers with inadequate quality assurance systems undergo a gradual improvement process in the design, manufacturing, and installation of new products. In the event of an elevator malfunction, maintenance personnel should identify the location of the fault and then analyze the cause. If the fault is due to design, manufacturing, or installation issues, it is imperative not to act impulsively. Contact must be made with the manufacturer or installation/maintenance department, and their technical and installation/maintenance staff should collaborate with the maintenance personnel of the using unit to discuss and resolve the issue.

2. Operation malfunction

Operational failures are generally caused by users tampering with safety devices and switches. Such non-compliance with operational procedures inevitably leads to elevator malfunctions and even risks passengers' lives, such as bypassing the safety contacts of the door during operation when it is open. We must prevent such failures from occurring.

3. Component damage fault

This type of fault phenomenon is common and frequent in elevators, such as mutual friction in the mechanical transmission parts, burning of contactors and relays in the electrical parts, overheating and burning of resistors, etc.

We must strive to prevent elevator accidents and the resulting injuries to individuals. Additionally, it is crucial to avoid situations such as elevator shutdowns and reduced conveying capacity. Therefore, strictly adhering to elevator safety operation procedures and conducting thorough inspections on a regular basis are important measures to ensure the safe operation of elevators.
