PA66 Plastic Raw Material

I. Product Introduction

PA66 plastic raw material is a semi-transparent, white, or black crystalline polyamide resin, known as polyamide in English, abbreviated as PA. Commonly referred to as Nylon, it is a general term for a high polymer with amide groups in the main chain of the macromolecule, and is one of the five major engineering plastics characterized by high production volume, diverse varieties, and wide applications.

It is moldable. Density: 1.15 g/cm³. Melting point: 252°C. Brittle point: -30°C. Decomposition temperature: greater than 350°C. Continuous heat resistance: 80-120°C, equilibrium moisture absorption rate: 2.5%. Resistant to corrosion from acids, alkalis, most inorganic salt solutions, halogenated alkanes, hydrocarbons, esters, ketones, etc., but soluble in polar solvents like benzene and formic acid. It boasts excellent wear resistance, self-lubricity, and high mechanical strength. However, it has a high moisture absorption rate, leading to poor dimensional stability. PA66 has good mechanical strength in the PA series.

Widely applicable varieties, due to their high crystallinity, offer superior rigidity and heat resistance.

Polyamide resin, also known as PA, commonly referred to as Nylon. It is a general term for high polymers containing amide groups in the main chain of the macromolecule, which is one of the five major engineering plastics with high production volume, diverse types, and wide applications.

The primary types of nylon are nylon 6 and nylon 66, which hold a dominant position. Nylon 6 is polyamide, while nylon 66 is polyhexamethylene adipamide. Nylon 66 is 12% harder than nylon 6. Next come nylon 11, nylon 12, nylon 610, nylon 612, and others such as nylon 1010, nylon 46, nylon 7, nylon 9, and nylon 13. New varieties include nylon 6I, nylon 9T, and special nylon MXD6 (barrier resin). There are numerous modified nylon types, such as reinforced nylon, molding compound nylon (MC nylon), reaction injection molding (RIM) nylon, aromatic nylon, transparent nylon, high-impact (ultra-tough) nylon, electroplated nylon, conductive nylon, flame-retardant nylon, and nylon blends and alloys with other polymers, catering to various special requirements and widely used as substitutes for traditional materials like metal and wood.

II. Features

Nylon, as a widely used engineering plastic, is extensively applied in industries such as machinery, automotive, electrical appliances, textile equipment, chemical equipment, aviation, and metallurgy. It has become an indispensable structural material in various sectors, characterized by the following main features:

Excellent mechanical properties. Nylon boasts high mechanical strength and good toughness.

2. Excellent self-lubricating and wear resistance. Nylon features good self-lubricating properties with a low friction coefficient, thus extending the service life as a transmission component.

3. Excellent heat resistance. High crystalline nylons like Nylon 46 have a high heat deflection temperature, allowing for long-term use at 150℃. After being reinforced with glass fibers, PA66 achieves a heat deflection temperature above 250℃.

4. Exceptional electrical insulation properties. Nylon has high volume resistivity and high breakdown voltage, making it an excellent electrical and electrical insulation material.

5. Excellent weather resistance.

6. Absorbency. Nylon has high absorbency, which can reach over 3% when fully saturated. It can affect the dimensional stability of the product to some extent.
