In recent years, the inner lining of steel ladles has been increasingly non-uniform. The walls of steel ladles often utilize AI2O3 spinel or A123-MgO castable materials, which exhibit good durability. However, the slag line area frequently employs Mg-ZrSi4 refractory materials, with less than satisfactory results. In response, Nippon Steel Corporation has developed high MgO castable materials using MgO-CaO (after wear-resistant treatment) slag and ultra-fine A12O3 powder, which have proven to be highly durable in practical applications.
