Section 3: Categories

Tubular cooler

This hydraulic cooler features a tube bundle design, including dual-tube, vertical, horizontal, and floating head styles. Its characteristic lies in the cooling water flowing through the tube interior, while the oil passes through the gaps between the tubes. The intermediate baffle plates allow the oil to deflect, and its double or even quadruple flow pattern enhances its cooling efficiency significantly.

Tube-in-tube coolerComposed of the external shell and internal cooler body. Due to variations in structural design, the external connection types are pipe thread and flange; the installation types are horizontal and vertical; the floating types are floating disk and floating head; the tube structures of the cooler are coiled tube and finned tube; and the baffle structures include arch baffles, rectangular baffles, double weir baffles, and circular baffles, among others, all selected based on specific conditions.

The external shell includes: the cylinder, water-dividing cover, and return water cover. It is equipped with oil inlet and outlet pipes, as well as water inlet and outlet pipes. It also features oil and water drain and exhaust plug, zinc rod mounting holes with temperature gauge interface, etc.

Cooler body consists of cooler tubes, fixed hole plates, moving hole plates, baffle plates, etc. The ends of the cooler tubes are connected to the fixed and moving hole plates. There is a leakage of engine oil inside the cooler of the cooler loader; the fixed hole plate and the outer body.Flange connectionThe moving baffle plate can freely expand and contract within the outer body to eliminate the effects of temperature on the cooler tubes due to thermal expansion and contraction. The baffle plate serves to enhance heat transfer and support the cooler tubes.

Principle

The heat medium of the tube bundle cooler enters through the inlet header on the cylinder, sequentially passing through each bend passage, and twists to the outlet header. The cooling medium, however, employs a two-pass flow, where the cooling medium enters half of the cooler tubes via the inlet cover, then flows back through the return cover into the other half of the cooler tubes, reaching the other side cover and the outlet pipe. During the two-pass flow, the cold medium absorbs the excess heat released by the heat medium and is discharged through the outlet, maintaining the working medium at the rated operating temperature.

2. Plate-type cooler

This panel type is available in V-groove and diagonal wave patterns, utilizing ripple structures to arrange contact points. This allows for turbulence to form at relatively low fluid velocities, significantly enhancing the heat dissipation efficiency.

Plate Heat ExchangerIt is a new type of heat exchange equipment featuring high heat transfer efficiency, compact structure, small land occupation, and easy installation. It can be conveniently combined into any flow form according to different process requirements. Therefore, it is widely used in various industrial fields such as petrochemical, chemical, metallurgy, machinery, light industry, food, electricity, coating, and heating. Due to the refrigerant fluid (cryogenic water) andRecirculating Cooling Water(Working fluid) does not come into direct contact; instead, it transfers the heat from the circulating cooling water to the chilled water through heat exchange plates. At this point, the circulating cooling water with a higher temperature cools down to become a low-temperature fluid. When the heat transfer between the fluids on both sides of the heat exchange plates is isothermal,

It encompasses three processes:

1) The heat transfer process by convection during the circulation of cooling water (working fluid), transferring heat to the wall of the heat exchange sheet.

2) Heat transfer process through the heat exchange plate

3) Heat transfer via convection to the chilled water (refrigerant fluid) by the heat exchange plate wall on the other side.

Air-cooled cooler

The third type of air-cooled cooler is also divided into various types such as indirect, fixed, and suspended, etc. It boasts numerous features as well. Its simple structure, compact size and weight, and ease of use are among its advantages [3].

Air-cooled oil cooler (shortened to air cooler) is a cooling device that uses air as its cooling source.Aluminum alloy plateFin-tube heat exchangers feature oil channels and air channels with heat exchange fins in the core body, offering a larger heat exchange area per volume and higher heat transfer efficiency, utilizing air as the medium for heat exchange. Compared to water-cooled radiators, they are not only easy to install and maintain but also prevent oil-water mixing caused by burst copper pipes, which can cause severe damage to the system. Moreover, for equipment that requires frequent relocation of work sites (such as construction machinery), they do not require water supply considerations and eliminate the need for disassembly and reconstruction of the water circulation system, making them increasingly popular eco-friendly products.

Installation Method

 

Cooling unit installation methods include:Vertical Cold Oil CoolerAndHorizontal Cold Oil CoolerThe vertical cooler features a compact installation area and ease of installation. The horizontal cooler offers lower pressure drop and strong resistance to water impact. Therefore, selecting the appropriate vertical or horizontal cooler based on different site conditions, space height, and performance requirements can better meet the needs of generators and other equipment.

CoolerPressure TestUpon qualification, the equipment may be put into use, and ensure the front tank is fully filled with internal water.

(2) Check if all drain cocks and vent valves are operable and the switch positions are correct, and ensure that the pressure gauge and thermometer are fully installed.

(3) Inspect the foundation and supports for stability, and ensure all bolts are fully engaged and tightened.

(4) When in use, first introduce cold flow, followed by hot flow.

(5) When using cold or hot media, first ensure the auxiliary line is clear, then gradually open the outlet valve, check for any issues, and then open the inlet valve, making sure to open it slowly to prevent pressure build-up. Pay attention to observing any changes in the equipment during the operation. After the cooler is put into use, leakage may occur due to changes in temperature and pressure, so it should be checked promptly.
