I. Overview of the Mechanical Seal Industry
Mechanical Seal
Sealing is the process of preventing fluids or solid particles from leaking between adjacent mating surfaces and safeguarding machinery components from external contaminants such as dust and moisture. Seals are categorized into static and dynamic types. A static seal is one without relative movement or stationary mating surfaces, while a dynamic seal is used between mating surfaces that are in relative motion. Dynamic seals are further divided into reciprocating shaft seals and rotating shaft seals based on the relative movement of the moving parts. Additionally, they are classified as either contact or non-contact seals depending on whether there is a gap between the sealing surfaces.
2. Mechanical End Seal
Mechanical face seal refers to a device that prevents fluid leakage by maintaining a tight and sliding fit between at least one pair of end faces perpendicular to the rotational axis, under the action of fluid pressure and the elastic force (or magnetic force) of the compensation mechanism, along with the assistance of auxiliary seals. As one of the critical core components in various rotating equipment, the mechanical face seal is an indispensable part of the operation of rotating equipment, playing a crucial role in ensuring the safe operation of the equipment. Failure of the seals not only leads to production paralysis but may also trigger serious safety and environmental protection incidents.
Section II: Mechanical Seal Industry Supply Chain
The upstream industry of mechanical seals includes the manufacturing of metals, rubbers, plastics, graphite, and their products, as well as instruments and meters. The downstream industries encompass the manufacturing of rotating mechanical equipment for conveying or agitating fluids, such as compressors, pumps, and kettles. As the downstream industries continue to evolve, characteristics such as large-scale, scaled, environmentally friendly, integrated, high-parameterized, and intelligent have become the development trends for future equipment. The demand for high-parameter, high-stability, and long-life mechanical seals from the main equipment in the downstream industries is increasing, which will drive the mechanical seal industry to enhance R&D efforts and boost independent innovation capabilities.
