PowderMetallurgyIntroduction to Process and Products
Powder metallurgy products are precision-finished using metal powders such as iron, copper, and stainless steel powders, through the shaping-sintering process. The traditional process involves mixing the powder, pressing it into shape, sintering, finishing, and post-processing (such as oil dipping, packaging, and machining). This means first loading the high-purity mixed powder into a mold and forming it under pressure. Next, the green compact is sintered in a controlled atmosphere furnace at a temperature below the melting point of the base material, allowing the powder particles to form metallurgical bonds.
